Kovalchuk ends Ovechkin-Malkin feud

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I found this really interesting. For those who haven't been paying attention, there has been an on-going feud between Ovechkin and Malkin for the last few years, reportedly over some small quarrel over which both held a grudge against the other. However, one of the big stories of the All-Star game was that the two seemingly had put it behind them, and apparently this was largely due to Kovalchuk's efforts.

Friday night, during the dinner with other fellow All Stars, Kovalchuk got the two of them together and proposed to finalize the peace talks (which began earlier that day with the handshaking incident) and make it all official. "He poured it for us", said Malkin after the Super Skills last night, talking about a Russian peacemaking ritual, the deep-hidden essence of which you can easily guess.

"Yes, he poured us some water," added Ovechkin, just to clarify the deep-hidden essence of the Russian peacemaking ritual for those of us that are slower on the uptake.

Really classy move. I'm glad that the Thrashers gave Kovalchuk the captaincy.

This is good for hockey. An on top of that dont expect either of them to lay off the gas. They both professionals and will be still hitting each other hard, just not in the head hunting way which isnt good for anyone.

Good find i was driving so i missed the All-Star Game/Weekend when i saw the two of them pull the hat stunt i was like...what happened

They did steal the show, see pav could have been a part of that if he would have went. One of the reasons I hated Malkin was because of the thing they had against each other.

I disagree. Hockey would be more fun to watch if players from opposing teams hated each other.

They can still play hard and hit hard and still compete for their "best russian" award without negative comments, dirty hits and what not i just think its good for them to move on from head hunting, with AO does againist Malkin, to just competing.

Edit: It might take a little of the spice off but i personally am ok with that. I hate watching unnecessary hits/dirty play and what not. It doesnt establish anything in the long run for a team, Anahiem got a cup then fell off the map and the Avs hit on Lids before the playoffs last year made us bring up Darren who i think helped a great deal in the playoffs, plus i just like watching him skate

This whole Ovechkin-Malkin feud was more a media driven drama anyways. Malkin would ***** about Ovechkin hitting him in hockey games, and Ovechkin allegedly beating up his agent, all based on some supposed 'great' friendship they used to have because they hung out in Torino once or twice, like two young Russian's in Italy were supposed to know many more people.

I do like me some Ilya Kovalchuk tho. Ovechkin-Datsyuk-Kovalchuk in the olympics please!

Huh? You hated Malkin because he and Ovechkin didn't get along (presumably) and now that they do (presumably) you are okay with Malkin?

Ovechkin got hurt just now. Chara hooked him and he went hard into the boards. Stayed down for a long time, then went to the bench and eventually left to the locker room violently throwing down his gloves and helmet out of frustration. Looked like a shoulder injury, or maybe even a concussion. Hopefuly nothing serious.

Never mind, he's back for the third and going 100mph like usual.

Vodka = little water. Fitting, I'd say.

I noticed in Russia that vodka is sipped with the morning paper, served all-around during lunch, and slugged relentlessly after dinner.

I absolutely love Kovalchuk. Always have. He's my favorite non-Red Wing. As are the Thrashers my favorite non-Red Wings team :) All because Kovalchuk.

Anyone who does this to Crosby to get him to shut his big cocky mouth, is ok in my book. :)

The point at 3:30 is good, but Crosby's reaction at 3:40 is priceless. Or how about the announcer back from commercial, "Sid the kid, acting like one."
