One thing that was never even hinted at was that Fedorov is a playoff no show.

Just sayin...

:D Yeahhh... right. The guy who was the third highest playoff point getter in all of the nineties? The one that holds a record for most consecutive 20pt playoff runs?

Fedorov was better in the playoffs.

I think he was saying the Fedorov DID show up in the playoffs and left no reason for anyone to question that. In the past Hossa has been labeled a playoff no-show, but he turned that around last year.

Heh... yeah I guess I read it the opposite way. I just bristle whenever someone talks trash about Feds :P I should've known better than to doubt NN. ;)

I think it's pretty cool how Fedorov won the fastest skater contest and the hardest shot for some All-Star games skill competition a while back. I think Feds was a more complete two way player but they are both awesome at what they do. Has Hossa ever participated in any All-Star contests? Just wondering

Also, I think Hossa shows more fight and passion than Feds did. Sure, Fedorov did have great passion at times but I'm sure many of you guys have seen the rather less passionate side of him as well, especially towards his later years with the Wings. We all saw Hossa and his never say die attitude he had for the Pens in the SCF last year.

One last thing, a lot of people say Drake was the cup hungry veteran that gave us a boost in that part of our game last year and how that helped the team but now that he's gone it's different. Well if you think about it, Hossa has been an NHL player for over 10 years now and he never won a cup either. He came so close last year, he was almost able to taste it. I bet he'll still have that cup hungry playoff drive when the time comes.

Fedorov is the only player to ever win two different individual events.

Nope. Hossa is Hossa. I'm sure lots of people miss the days of #91 in a Wings jersey but they'd be wrong to call Hossa the second coming. Let's just enjoy Hossa for who he is and not try to box him in with lame expectations.

...next NN will come back and tell you to keep your reality in check and go on how Hudler is more important now to the Wings than Hossa is and Fedorov EVER was!

...NN has such man love for Hudler. Maybe the two of them came up with the "cluck" after a night of sexual discovery!

My buddy and I were talking Friday night and thought, in a very round-about way, that the 90's wings are kind of back. This will probably come out wrong and I will get keyboard raped for it, I am sure.

Zetterberg = Yzerman

Datsyuk = Larinov

Hossa = Feds

When I seen this thread I thought for sure he posted it... Strange.

By no way do I mean to say that Zettergerg is as good as Stevie just that a slight relation is there.

That seems to have absolutely no relavance to the topic at hand...

Face it peeps- they are the same. One maybe a lil more offensive skill, one may have a lil more defensive skill.

One brings it every game.

+1 Hossa

Fedorov had more defensive skill and more offensive skill. He may not have brought it every game, but he brought it when it counted. If it was overtime of game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals and I could only have Hossa or Fedorov on my team I'd choose Fedorov 11 times out of 10.

It's quite funny. It doesn't matter what the subject or what thread it's in, but one can always count on you not knowing s*** about whatever is being said.

Maybe in terms of the roles that they each played, but I don't think Datsyuk can be compared to anyone who has played the game before him.

No. Sorry. Hossa's overratedness just went through the roof if you think Hossa is in any way comparable to Fedorov. Hossa has a quicker release than Fedorov, and thats it. Feds had the better overall shot (wrister, slapper), faster wheels, was better defensively, more creative, more versatile, just as good a goal scorer (yes, he was), and was about 10 times the passer Hossa was.

No fan that watched Fedorov throughout his entire or majority of his career - Yes, the Red Wings were around pre-97/98 - would say that Hossa is even close to what Fedorov was in his prime.
