there are 25 games left until we REALLY begin defending our cup. There is no time to play a call-up.

No, actually it's the perfect time to call someone up. Conklins back-up needs some practice before he can be ready. Call him up, let him start 5 or 6 games down the stretch, Conk can start the rest. Osgood isn't worthy of a back-up position, send him down to the minors, and bring someone with some PASSION, up.

It's not even about defending the cup right now.If we don't start "defending" period they won't make it past the first round.We have a few injuries right now and that is the only that is telling me to calm down and wait until everyone gets healthy but it has been gruesome to watch,I mean even the games we are winning we are just barely getting by some of these teams.And I don't expect to blow teams out every game but this is getting ridiculous.Obviously the offense is there but the defense is on another planet right now.And we're obviously not taking advantage of this "funk" SJ has going right now by winning games.Whatever man,I'm sick of this s*** already.

I have no confidence in Osgood whatsoever. No matter how big of a lead Detroit has I am always afraid of every shot on Ozzy because it will find its way into the net. Its about time to stop the false hope of saying that he will come around. He has been completely terrible ALL season long.

The irony is, most of the people who were "hating on" Hasek last year, and supporting Osgood, are the same folks who are "hating on" Ozzie, and supporting Conklin.

While you want Ozzy to fail so Wings can play the unproven backup goalie (do you remember Manny Legacy?). You were probably were not even a fan when Ozzy started in the Playoffs for us.

it's not like the Wings have a 20 point lead in the standings. They're trying to ensure home-ice. Throwing away points right now isn't the best idea.

And for as successful as Osgood has been in the playoffs in the past, he's also had numerous meltdowns, too.

Regardless of whether or not Conklin is "proven" in the playoffs, I know for one thing he's work damn hard this regular season and deserves to be named the starter.

osgood was fantastic last year, no doubt about it. he was second in line for the con smythe in my opinion. he hasn't had a bad season this year, he's had a brutal season. he's been the worst detroit goaltender in over a decade.

Actually, it is more than just about one game. This is a reoccuring problem. You can't continue to win games with a save percentage of a 1980's goaltender. If we didn't have the power house of awesomeness we would be struggling to make the playoffs.

At this point in the season, Ozzy makes some pretty good spectacular saves but the routine stuff makes him look like swiss cheeze. Face it, this season he is better at charting face offs than sitting in goal. The only reason why he has his record this year is that Hossa, Dats, Zets, Huds, Homer, Franzen, Cleary and Lids have bailed him out.

We will not go far with Ozzy playing like he is, he looks like Tim Chevedale.

Right on. Who's happy about today? No one. Who's happy about Osgood's play today? No one. But he's our #1. I don't care how bad Osgood looks or how well Conklin's looked this season, Osgood's #1 going in and he won us a Cup in stellar fashion 8 months ago. I'm not happy, but I want him to get going. Seeing as he's going to be the starter, I'm not going to throw him under the bus. I'm going to keep supporting him. Hell, if I were coach, he'd be starting every game until he started showing consistency as opposed to the opposite. You've got to get him going. Manny, I mean Ty is not the answer.

Naming any goaltender on this team the starter is a bad idea. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't start playing Conks more. I like the idea of Conklin playing more games than Ozzie to finish out the season, but don't call anyone starter. At the very least, the competition between the two guys isn't going to hurt - if anything, its a help.
