Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Hockey actually got some love from ESPN, the goal was number on sportscenter top 10 plays.
elriqo28 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Goal of the Year IMO (click through to watch the widescreen) or I haven't seen this before. I am more impressed with the spin-o-rama to steel the puck. That was just brilliant. The goal was pretty amazing though. Those are the types of moves I want to see from Hossa. more seat of your pants goals!
Guest NumbaSixty-Six Report post Posted February 19, 2009 The sooner Bettman stops trying to boost Sid the douchebag kid as face of the league and gives it to Ovie instead, the better for the NHL. The faster Ovie's play goes downhill.....

hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Did anyone else see ovechkin's crazy goal from his back tonight against Montreal. That guy is incredible and just seems to score every day, i would hate to see him in the finals. didnt people say that about crosby last year in the playoffs? hmmm
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Nice goal, especially the move in the neutral zone. Not exactly goal of the year material (imo) but it will certainly be a top 10. Ovie's only 7 points behind Malkin with a game in hand. Go #8!
maltbymaniac 13 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) yea...i like flips diving goal he scored last playoffs (i think it was) better. this AO charicter is overrated. Edited February 19, 2009 by maltbymaniac
shannyfan1414 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 What a move to get free and what a great job of concentration to finsh the play off. He is just an amazing hockey player.

Namingway 146 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Flip's goal was fine too but this isn't only about the finish of it but how he started it from the blue line off a pass to himself and then scored on his own. I think both goals were pretty mastodonic lol
stactum 4 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 That was 1:1 tying goal by AO. Before that they were outplayed by MTL for the most part... Bruce Boudreau said after that goal that when Caps players saw this goal, it fired up them so strong that they were able to come back and play better. That is why he is the best player and he can not only make players around him, but his whole team play better.
HkyTwn 5 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 That goal was fantastic. AO is just plain good.

bellarina 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 The sooner Bettman stops trying to boost Sid the douchebag kid as face of the league and gives it to Ovie instead, the better for the NHL. I disagree, the face should be Dats
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 I wasn't too impressed with that goal. (just my opinion) The self-pass and spinorama was the best part. The goal was pretty damn good, but the moves were otherworldly.

Personally I much prefer a beautiful passing game with nice set-ups (like Dats and Zetta). His goal was mostly fluke and luck. I'm not saying he isn't unique, he is. I'm not saying he isn't unique, he is. Ok i will admit that there was some luck involved in that goal. But you also have to take into consideration the fact that he has scored another goal were he was sprawled out on the ice. I think you have to give him some credit for being able to focus on the puck and still make contact after hitting the ice. I don't think that there are a lot of guys out there who could score goals like that. I would give you fluke as well if it was the first time he did but it is not. Just imagine Sid in that situation. As soon as he hit the ice i can see him crying to ref about a no call.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Personally I much prefer a beautiful passing game with nice set-ups (like Dats and Zetta). His goal was mostly fluke and luck. this isn't called luck any more when you do this multiple times. luck is when Boyd Deveraux scores or Osgood makes a save to keep his team in the lead. but not when you go hard and have skills to finish a move that few people in the world could possibly imitate, but not necessarily succeed. seriously. Ovechkin is for real
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Ovie - the best player in the league? Hell freakin' yes.
Wingaling 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Its a good goal but far from goal of the year, this guy must have a half a dozen better this year or at least he will. Dats, Hank, Franzen, Huds and Hossa all have goals that rival this one...and thats just 5 wings players let alone the rest of the league.
Inultus 12 Report post Posted February 19, 2009 Great individual effort. Not his best goal, but to make the play totally by himself is awesome.
