If he doesn't there's going to be a lot of I told you soooooooooo!

I don't think a lot of people think it matters... I on the other hand think we're in desperate need of someone like Neil... if SJ gets him I will be so pissed!!

CBS Sportsline is reporting that Tkachuk was the Bruins' original target, when they couldn't pull him, they set their sights on Recchi. Apparently Tkachuk has given Davidson a list of teams he would like to go to.

Word was a 2nd rounder, but the Wings 2nd rounder is essentialy a 3rd.

Holland stated last night he was not going for Neil.

Detroit would not need to clear cap space.

Those GM's never show their hand that early... he may or may not be after him. Hard to tell with him.

I still think red wings need another hungry gritty player, sure they have hossa who badly wants the cup but another player would only do good i think.

I don't know what the sentiments are on Tkachuk around here, but I wouldn't mind dealing for him. 3rd round pick and a goalie prospect.

Does everyone really think TOR is trying to tank it this season for a top pick?

That's the thing though....it doesn't *guarantee* them the top pick. The NHL has a lottery each year in hopes of preventing this sort of play. Sure they have a better shot of getting the top pick, but it doesn't mean they'll absolutely get it.

All that being said, with Burke at the helms....who knows.

Blues would rape an inter-division rival for Tkachuk.

Though Detroit was rumored to be on his "acceptable" list.

Haha, very true. What do you think of what that one guy said, all the team that don't make the plaoffs have equal chance of winning the top pick to virtually eliminate teams tanking?

I agree.....they're two totally different skill-sets/additions to the team. While the team will be hungry for Hossa, you know a gritty fourth liner helps bring a spark when a team needs it. Drake was great at that role all last season.

I've heard that Burke has been trying to get draft picks so he can trade up for the #1 pick, guaranteed that way (although this was just a rumor I heard, but he's done things like this before).

And out of the blue....Mr. Irrelevant speaks.

It's only trade deadline day, but how's this for news out of Colorado?

The Denver Post reports Peter Forsberg is in Denver with his parents and intends to make an announcement at Wednesday's Avalanche-Red Wings game. (possibly announcing his retirement.)

I'd be ok with a weighted version of that. As long as the bottom team has the highest percentage all the way down to the 14th worst team....no complaints from me.

More rumour, speculation, and innuendo...isn't that what today is all about?

Ottawa Sun: The Pittsburgh Penguins have contacted the Ottawa Senators about Chris Neil and/or Jarkko Ruutu. The Penguins are also talking to the New York Islanders about Bill Guerin.
