Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 With just 11 reg games left for the Wings can Dats get the 13pts he needs to hit the landmark for the first time in his career as a Wing. If he carrys on at his current rate he should, I know figures and stats don't mean everything but it would be great for him and also for the wings. We haven't had a player hit 100 since Feds got 107pts in the 1995-96 season. mainly this is due to the overall team style 4 line hockey the Wings play, so for a player to do it now would be a great fete. Fingers crossed, he came so close last year to doing it.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 13 points in 11 games......might be a tight stretch. But if anyone on the team can do it, he certainly can. It would be a very big accomplishment if he pulls it off.
EuroTwin 240 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 I don't see why not! If he keeps playing like he played tonight, I'm sure he'll easily get to 100.

Nicholonio 9 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 It's going to be tough, but like someone already said here, if anyone can do it... it's certainly Datsyuk. What a guy, he's so amazing to watch.

Nicholonio 9 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Bettman, hah... what a guy. I'm sure he meant every word to Broduer.
spyder 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Yeah if babs played with only 2 lines like a lot of the other teams Dats would have way more points than everyone one else. Seriously I watched the Capitols the other day and their strategy is pathetic... keep ovetchkin on the ice at all times, and pass the puck to ovetchkin. I couldn't even tell you the names of anyone else on the team because all I hear from the play by play is "Ovetchkin shoots!!"
Spinner 6 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 I'd like to see his 100th point be on a hat trick, but due to the Arby's triple play jinx, no one will get a hat trick this year.
dicksmack 33 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 He should make if it if he keeps scoring at his current 1.24 ppg clip. 13pts in 11 games is 1.18ppg. Datsyuk sure took that game over last night!
Opie 308 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 The real question is: Does being a top 5 scorer and selke candidate make you eligible for MVP?
Yzersyukstromberg 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 He'll stay hot, and make it to 100 points, in my opinion. I'm guessing he'll hit about 102. And despite that, he'll still get shunned in the Hart Trophy voting.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 I'll say no, but you can't rule it out. If he has one or two big 3-4 point nights it'll happen.

Glubki 17 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 He's hot right now so he has a good chance. I could care less if he wins the mvp trophy - it is nothing more than a popularity contest at best. If he keeps playing like this there is a good chance we win another cup and that is good enough for me...
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Unless Babcock starts to rest some players to keep them fresh for the playoffs, yeah he has a good shot at getting there. He has had a couple of weeks where he hasn't been as hot as he was earlier in the season, but looks like he's back on fire again. I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish strong and get to 105-110. Kira 451 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 I think he'll get it. He's also three points short of a 1-point per game career average, which a lot of players would give their eyeteeth to own. I have incredible faith in Pasha, and whatever goal he sets for himself he'll get it. And that includes his third Stanley Cup ring.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Very, very close but Datsyuk has the magic hands. He'll reach 100. Doesn't mean anything but it would be a cool career accomplishment for him.

Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 Unless Babcock starts to rest some players to keep them fresh for the playoffs, yeah he has a good shot at getting there. The first thing that popped into my mind was whether Babs was planning on resting some guys in the home stretch. I can't imagine Babcock resting guys unless there is a monumental shift in the standings for some reason (which is very unlikely to happen). The Sharks have essentially a 1 point lead over the Wings in the standings (if you give them wins for the 2 games in hand) - I can't see any way that the Wings rest players when: 1) home ice between the Sharks and the Wings has been such a big deal in the wins this year; 2) the extra travel of over 2000 miles (one way) all the way to the west coast (if the Sharks have home ice) is a big burden during the playoffs; 3) the President's Trophy and Stanley Cup Finals home ice is still up for grabs (I know that the Bruins are 4 point behind but if Babs sits guys that's not very much). I could be wrong but with all that at stake I can't imagine him resting guys (but admittedly he is a much much smarter hockey guy than I am ).
Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted March 18, 2009 I think it is possible ..... I'm hopeful he can pull it off......If he keeps going at this 2 point per game pace like he did last night its a no-brainer Im pulling for him to do it...GO PAVEL GO!!!!!!!!
