russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 I hate to say it but...Marty Turco. We are about the same height. And I'll skip weight since no hockey player would be my weight and not get clobbered for being a twig. We are both goaltenders that play a somewhat unconventional style of play with some flopping around, while still knowing and using mechanics. I like Turco also tend to be a little dirty if a guy is near my paint. And I like Turco also am a Jekyl and Hyde of some nights you got it and can win it on your own, and others its like you've never played before. One difference is I don't play the puck. BUT overall I am sad to say: I AM MARTY TURCO

RedWingAbner 13 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 This is a joke reply. Please don't flame me. I am Sidney Crosby. Why? A) I think I am much better at hockey than reality dictates. and B) Evgeni Malkin, Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, and Alexander Ovechkin (to name a few) are far superior players to me and c) I have never won a Stanley Cup, nor will I. Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Nope, come one, surely you have played in a beer league or two. Once guys realize they arent going to make the show ... everyone becomes a forward. that is so true. on more than a few adult leagues my d partner would end up wanting to play forward if the score was lopsided one way or the other. I never understood it. I tried it, played RW for awhile as a youth but I enjoyed being an ******* out there much more than doing anything with the puck. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 The closest player I can think of is Fillppula, although I don't think thats too great a match.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Yzerman - I'm only slightly bigger at 6', about the same weight wise - shoot right - great stickhandler (probably better than Yzerman, not actually better, but you know what I mean) - scorer - defensively responsible - I was going to say except for the leadership part because I'm not a big talker, but neither was Yzerman, so I guess it fits
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) The closest player I can think of is Fillppula, although I don't think thats too great a match. The part that throws me is the PKing. Otherwise I'd have said somebody like Craig Janney. Where is Eva when you need some input. He could think of 3 names instantly. You're flipper for now. lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Let's see, I'm between 6'1" and 6'2", weigh about 160, and can't skate. I guess I could be Ryan Miller, but that would mean I have some goaltending ability, which I don't. I suppose the best I'm going to do is Josh Tordjman from Phoenix ... 0-2-0, 4.07 GAA, .871 SV% ... looks like I'm heading to the minors!

dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) Back when I played, my big strenghts were my skating and playmaking. I didn't have much of a shot and didn't use it very much, and I wasn't very physical, though I could definitely take hits without folding. I had decent stick-handling, nothing amazing but I could do some dekes every once in a while. Usually I played at Center, sometimes Winger, and since I took a lot of defensive responsibility I was used as a d-man a few times. Have you figured out who I am yet? That's right, Valtteri Filppula. We're about the same height as well. My role model was Fedorov, but I had a way too lousy shot to be compared to him. EDIT: nevermind, I see I got to be Flip after all Edited March 24, 2009 by dat's sick
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 I played D one shift in my entire life, I ended up taking a slap shot off a stretched out arm in front of the net and broke my arm near my wrist.......no D for me. ouch. I hear you. I have had 3 bad ones. One, I went down on my knees to block a shot and somehow got twisted around, shooter held on for a split second and then ripped it into my back, right above my pants. I thought I got shot. Taken many off the legs/feet that went numb but once in college, took one off the inside of my foot, I went straight down and crawled over to the bench. I had no feeling for at least 5 minutes. Then, utter pain. Nothing broken though. And of course some nice stitches on my face from a ricochet in men's league where I wasn't wearing a visor. Getting in the way of shots isn't fun unless, like me, you were never going to score goals or garner much fame. Then, blocking shots becomes akin to your own form of goal scoring. You end up wanting to do it and eventually get better at it.

Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 I'm Rick Nash...*****! I was gonna go with Doug Berry. -Doug Berry was a useless hockey player. That's not my assessment, but the assessment of his NHL coach - Don Cherry.- "Apart from being a useless hockey player, the kid had a distorted idea about the work ethic; he didn't think it existed!" But we'll go with Nash anyway.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Well I'm more of a playmaker than a goalscorer; I have a tendency to look for the pass first, and shoot as a last resort (although I've been trying to break that habit). I'm tall, but lanky, so my size is useless. I'm very defense-oriented (played 1st line pk in every team I played for in my organized league days), and as such, I always end up filling in for a pinching defensman. I'm fast, but not Draper-in-his-prime fast, but probably in the top 20% of my peers. I'm decent at stick handling, but no Datsyuk by any means. Overall I think my two greatest strengths were defensive play and finding the open man, or setting up someone for a good shot on goal. I don't really know who I would be. By the way this is a great idea. Maybe this isn't perfect but I've decide you are Ron Francis. Playmaker to no end. 6 foot 3. Selke winner. Sounds close enough for me. Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted March 24, 2009 Do we have to fit below the salary cap? HELL NO! No stinkin' salary cap for this team! This is a pre-cap era team! Of course, we don't have enough defenders to actually make a team but that's just a small issue.
