I don't really like to get into goaltending discussions here, because the focus on goalies is embarrassing on this board. But the guy everyone is singing the praises of here today, Backstrom, just let in the go ahead goal on an unscreened wrist shot with less than a minute to go.

PERSPECTIVE.

shhh! don't let people realize that our goalie made solid saves late. You know, to keep it tied.

How are people still blaming the rest of the team for Osgood's horrible play this season? Did you not see the first goal against this game? Was that indicative of the defense's horrible play this season, or Osgoods?

And lol at osgood keeping us in the game in the 3rd. He's the reason they tied it in the first place.

So if a goalie gives up a goal, it needs to go straight in. If it hits any part of the goaltender and goes in, it's a bad goal...

No. I am simply stating how goals often go in on the league's worst (statistically speaking) goaltender. Figure out some way to pick that statement apart in defense of Ranford...err...Osgood. I'm dying with anticipation.

Actually, everything I say has to do with the playoffs. I just have a hard time seeing this type of play translate into playoffs success. Both from goaltending and the lack of toughness. It hasn't done so in the past. But once again, you had to mention how you're a real fan and I'm not. Just some more Shoreline crap for us all to read.

Since goalies (along with enforcers) are the only players on your team, this s***ty goaltender just allowed fewer goals than the opposing team's goalie and this team won, probably kicking them out of the playoff race for good. So much for the MVP s***.

If he didn't give up that softie 1st goal, the game would have never been tied. Come playoff time I don't want to see our goalie giving up any more goals like that, because the Wings have seen too much of that in the playoffs before.

Dude, everyone blamed Osgood on the first goal, no one is argueing that.

The second goal was the defenses fault.

Shh! That'll only make them retaliate with the obvious claim that it was tied in the first place because of Osgood's boneheaded giveaway.

At any rate, irrespective of the goaltending, its nice to see the Wings play more or less a complete game. You knew Minnesota was going to come on the third - it was only natural. But the defense was good, and the offense was great.

And the shot differential ends up being 46 to 23. Nice protection of the D zone.

Might have something to do with the fact that Backstrom faced 2 shots to Osgood's 1.

That's probably because our team's offensive skill and constantly pressuring the other team.

For the first two periods the Wings were content taking bad angle shots which also only pad a goalie's stats. But padding stats means nothing at all when their team didn't even win. Last I checked, winning is the only "stat" that matters.

I'm not just talking about the first goal, I'm talking about the entire season and those under the delusion Osgood's horrible season is due to the defense.

Hossa, Datsyuk, Holmström > Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmström,

It was obvious today, hossa plays great with pavel although franzen became a bit invisible.. if it was just an average game from him or because he was playing with zetterberg i dont know

What MVP s***? I said Backstrom was the league's MVP?

How much worse can you get with your posts? Are you going to hack into my user name and start making erroneous posts for me, just so you can later respond to them in ways that make you look smarter?

Notice how he focuses on one goal Ozzie gave up, rather than the three the opposing goalie gave up, and who actually WON THE GAME.

Ozzie bashing hypocrites have no leg to stand on.
