eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 One more win and he'll be 9th on the alltime list of goalie wins. 9th A-L-L-T-I-M-E !!!!! Think of that for a second. One more win makes Osgood tenth and Hasek 11th, rather than Osgood and Hasek tenth. He needs fourteen more to tie for ninth, as of this posting, if my memory is correct. KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 If he stays with the Wings for 5-6 more seasons, he can easily catch Joseph / Belfour assuming he wins about 32-35 wins a season.

LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 If he stays with the Wings for 5-6 more seasons, he can easily catch Joseph / Belfour assuming he wins about 32-35 wins a season. All he needs is 3 more season with 21 or so wins to catch Cujo (as long as Cujo retires after this season) but he will definately get to Sawchuk for 5th all time! Gee, soon to be 9th ALL TIME! ALL TIME! ALL TIME! Gonna get at least 25 more wins the next two years, that is good for 6th for sure and that is if he doesn't win anymore this season. No, he doesn't deserve seriou Hall consideration and he DEFINATELY doesn't deserve his number retired! speaking of which, I didn't know that only 4 players have played 1000 games in a WIngs uniform! Three of them are alrady in the rafters, so I do believe that gives serious consideration to Draper's number going up! #30 & #33 will go! #91 is losing steam... LeftWinger 5,153 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 Just imagine he never left Detroit. Where do you guys think he would be ranked right now? Well, considering that the three years he was gone he won, 32, 21 & 31 games respectively each season, probably right about where is at right now.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 (edited) If you count the 1994-95 season as .57 seasons, then Osgood is currently averaging 26.7 wins per season. If he wins one or two more this season and finishes at 390 or 391, that increases to 26.8 wins per season, given mathematical rounding to tenths. Regardless, rounded off to a whole number, he would have 27 wins on a complete season. So let's see where Osgood places if he wins 27 games per season (which would be one more win this season, btw) every season for each remaining season in his career. We'll also assume he wins 27 this season, finishing the year with 390 career wins. Six season were mentioned? I'd love to see that at even his current average. I'll show you why below: One season: 417 wins, 8th place. Two seasons: 444 wins, 6th place. Three seasons: 471 wins, 4th or 5th place (pending Curtis Joseph's remaining career) Four seasons: 498 wins, 3rd place. Five seasons: 525 wins, 3rd place. Six seasons: 552 wins, 2nd place. But, do you see him playing 6 more season here AND winning 27 games per? That would be great! But honestly, I think 5th or 6th is not out of the question within his current contract, and if he is anywhere near sniffing Sawchuk, he will re-sign to get there. Either way, he desereves his number retired and consideration for the Hall.

SweWings 45 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 . Either way, he desereves his number retired and consideration for the Hall. I think it'll be the other way around. Oh and I do think that more than 1 or so season as nr. 1 is unlikely, but then I think it depends on who's available when Lidström signs a smaller contract - or whether Larsson or Howard can pull it off in the big league... But honestly, I think 5th or 6th is not out of the question within his current contract, and if he is anywhere near sniffing Sawchuk, he will re-sign to get there. Either way, he deserves his number retired and consideration for the Hall. Osgood has won 57% of his starts on average during his career. He's over 60% this season. If he plays 5 seasons, he needs to average 33 wins, so he needs to start 58 games per season or more for 5 seasons. If he plays 4 seasons, he needs to average 41 wins. so he needs to start 72+ games per season for 4 seasons. If Osgood is given the chance to play that much for that long and is winning that much, he'll stick around as long as possible. As far as the Hall...he's about to hit 400 wins. If he comes back next season, which he is under contract for, and if he gets the 11 or fewer wins he would need to reach 400...then he is an absolute lock for the Hall. There is no way a 400-win goaltender with multiple Cup wins is kept out of the Hall. It just won't happen.
FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 I bet he catches up to Terry Sawchuk before he retires. The question is whether or not the wings retire his number if he catches Sawchuck.
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 If he stays with the Wings for 5-6 more seasons, he can easily catch Joseph / Belfour assuming he wins about 32-35 wins a season. He will pass them both at that rate in 3 seasons!!
pjgj13 30 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 Oh, and he WILL be in the HOF with no questions asked. If he had played in as many games as Brodeur plays in a season, he would have nearly 450 wins under his belt. In his 15 or so year career, that comes out to ONLY 4 more wins a year. Ozzie played as a starter, not more than 50-55 games a year. Brodeur ROUTINELY hits 70 every year (or damn near it). Remember, Ozzie has been a backup for a third (if not more) of his career. Ozzie WILL have his number retired and be in the HHOF for his career marks!!
