DMAC 25 18 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 just to see what others think. the sharks are down in the series 3-1 right now and it looks like they could be out in the first round. would this be a good thing for detroit or a bad because we've seen it before where a team comes from know where and beats up every team. now i know a ton of people are gonna say its really good because the sharks have always been a threat to every team but the ducks are playing pretty good lately. just cruious to what others thought sorry if the topic was already started
Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 should be a decent series. Sharks will learn that the Presidents trophy doesnt mean a whole lot, And McLellan (*cough traitor cough*) will grow as a head coach. tough noogies for the sharks!!! Weve been there.... TheOwl 77 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 San Jose has been a top cup contender for the last 5 years. What other teams can say that? Detroit? Anaheim (maybe). That's about it. The only difference really is San Jose can't deal with pressure. They have equally good rosters I think we'd agree, but certain people just can't step it up. San Jose needs to be the under-dog to win the cup, if San jose was 8th, Anaheim 1st, I'd bet anything San Jose would win.
drfnr14 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 ducks will win. sharks will win game 5 at home but the ducks will take game 6 to win the series only if hiller keeeps playing like god

zata20 4 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 hiller looks scary good this series. i don't like this at all. Ya Steve Mason scared me going into the playoffs, but what did we do to him? We only scored 18 goals on him in 4 games. The sharks haven't been crashing the net nearly as hard as Detroit did against columbus. If you park holmstrom, franzen, and cleary in front of Hiller he will start letting in more goals.

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 ya... the difference is mason scared me BEFORE the playoffs. hillers scarying me DURING the playoffs. not to mention ducks prolly have best d in the league. I agree. Anyone hoping for the Ducks to upset the Sharks because they think that the Ducks will be a better matchup should be watching this game right now. Hiller scares the crap out of me because of his play during the playoffs. He is coming up with huge saves and is reminding me of other hot goalies we have played against in the past that have beaten us like Giguere and Roloson. Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) ducks in 6 they will take the series at the Ponda. Ducks are 6-0 in home games where they have a chance to eliminate the opponent. So hopefully they keep the streak alive! Edited April 26, 2009 by Duck Guy

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 The Sharks D is HORRIBLE. The Ducks offense is SHALLOW. Shut down the top line, like the Sharks more or less did tonight, and you're in the game. Catch the Sharks on the endless breaks that they give you with their bone-headed plays and you're in the game. Bottom line - both teams have obvious weaknesses that can easily exploited by the personnel we have on this team. The more I see of the Ducks, the less scared I am of them. Gutierrez 7 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 Thorton and Marleau finally showed up for San Jose tonight, albeit in game 5. The Sharks D has been less than stellar though and has no answer for the Getzlaf line. I think the Ducks are going to finish this next game.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 My 2 cents on the series thus far: The Sharks- When you depend on your top line and and a couple D men and other forwards to score the bulk of your points, and they decide to check out for long pieces of a series you need someone else to step up, to kick the players who arent producing in the ass, and/or retool your team, because, guess what, NO ONES SURPRISED THAT THORTON NEVER IS CONSISTENT IN THE PLAYOFFS. The Sharks 'upgraded' D of this season is still letting one dimensional teams walk all over them and they are still losing series they should have atleast a decent shot at winning, the Ducks are one of the teams they play the most over the course of a season, its not like they are playing in a new surprising way. Bottom line for the sharks is this, the regular season doesn't mean s*** come mid April, in the playoffs its put up or shut up. The Ducks- This is more fun to talk about, they came in and played ducks brand hockey, as I said in the sharks bit, they aren't playing a surprising new system, this is tried and true ducks playoffs. But, it look a hell of a lot better against the sharks, because right now the Sharks are underachieving, they are getting a lot of shots on Hiller, and hes had to make some good saves, but hes still not really being TESTED, if anyones watched these games a lot of what the sharks are shooting at him are low % shots that any goalie should stop. They only have one line that is a consistent threat to score on any given night, there D while top tier isnt the same smothering D it was a just 2 seasons ago. While the Ducks are playing great, their success is just as much a result of the unremarkable Sharks as it is the Ducks playing good hockey. Either way, I don't see another Cup in Cali this year. 19Hockeytown5 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 I hope the Ducks win in 7. Otherwise, we draw a rested Canucks team. I would assume both Detroit and Vancouver want the Ducks to win. Vancouver would get a beaten and battered winner of Chicago/Calgary with little rest. They also would have home ice. If Anaheim wins, they have to fly to the Joe from the West coast and jump right back into a series with Detroit. I think we would really be able to overwhelm them with energy and physical play in the first 2 games. I want the Ducks. No team scares me. Of course every team in the West left can beat us. However, I remain confident. If a team is good enough to beat this wings team 4 out of 7 tries, I can only bow my head with respect.

Shaman 713 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 I remember everyone flaming me because I didnt think the Sharks D was all that upgraded at all. I honestly thought they downgraded. Please refer to the topic early in the season where I was called stupid homer by the shark fans who came here http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54485 I got the crap torn out of me for suggesting the Campbell is a better Dman and that their upgrades on D were offensive type D men, that really wouldn't help the team so much in their own zone.....and that I cant base their future (current) playoff appearance on the last couple years...
