WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

Two big kills in the last half of that period. That's something to build off of.

We've got to be better in the third though. That kind of play will get us nowhere in this series.

Silver lining at the end of the second: Well at least we're only down by one.

Really, with the way we're playing, the win is still within sight. That says a lot.

At any rate, I'm just so ******* frustrated that EVERYTHING we did right against Columbus is gone. Why are we getting beaten to EVERY puck? To me, we'd be 10x better if we just hustled a little more.

Datsyuk's been brutal in this game. Stickhandling himself into turnovers, hasn't created much of anything. That 2nd period overall was brutal. No huste, no energy, no sense of urgency in their play, no forecheck... I could go on and on.

Also, apparently the Ducks have turned into saints in this game. One power play? Seriously? (I won't continue on about the obstruction from the first period...)

This team is a joke right now... now you can really have a case on "too much soft europeans" freaking disgusting to watch...

Oh.. and Chelios ruin the team even more, just retire already old man.

I think that Babcock is wary of line changes since he wants to keep Datsyuk and Zetterberg separate for defensive purposes... So I can maybe see him switching Hossa and Franzén, but I don' tknow...

We've only had one power play all game, we're bound to get something in the 4rd. I think the Wings will come out flying.

Lets go Red Wings!

While I agree with that, it bothers me to no end that we're relying on PPs to get us back in this game. That cannot be a crutch.

blaming the refs for poor play? what i and alot of us are saying is that it hugely contributes to our lack of jump. we have to play cautious, worried anything we do will be called and knowing the ducks won't get called for anything. one pp goal more and this is a diff game.

One even strength goal and this is a different game as well. The Wings CANNOT count on the PP to win them every game of the playoffs.

The Ducks lost last game due to penalties and have responded by playing a much cleaner game this game. Have there been missed calls...YES. Have the Ducks played more disciplined today ...Most definitely yes.

Duck adjusted their game so they wouldnt lose to the Wings PP. The Wings need to beat them even strength in response. That puts the Ducks on there heals, and that is what would put the series away.

That was about as bad a period of playoff hockey as this team can play. There was just nothing in terms of desire. Frankly, we're lucky to be in a one-goal game. I called out Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Hossa before the game and, this afternoon, they've been as invisible as ever. It's tough to imagine us winning a best-of-seven series without any of those guys producing.

It's clear we miss Rafalski. We've been so sloppy in our defensive zone. I miss the stabilizing effect that he typically brings and I'm sick of seeing Chelios out there.

The one saving grace has been our penalty kill, which did a great job killing off those last two Anaheim power plays. Let's hope we get a call and can even this thing up. If not, I'll be awfully nervous come Game 3.

pluses-

-ozzy is playing stong

-were only down by 1

negs-

-stupid pentalies(refs)

-can gain zones

-cant get out of our zone

-no good passes

this has got to be the worse first 2 periods weve played all playoffs. very sloppy hockey. can someone wake the wings up and tell them to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is ridlocous. were lucky ozzy is on his game or it would be 9 to 2!!!!! we need to step up and throw it all out in the 3 period.

Finally somebody that has the blinders off.

This is the point I've been making all game.

Yes there should be more then one Detroit PP, but the fact that they are relying on the PP to win the game is not a good sign. To win the Cup you need to be able to win games with strong even strength play and I have not seen that today.

The Ducks have done some things uncalled, but all in all they haveplayed a pretty clean game except for a few missed interference calls.

The Ducks have been the better team. Both teams are obstructing but the whistles haven't reflected that, which is unfortunate. The Wings need to forecheck and put more pressure on the Ducks' D, like they did after the last Anaheim goal.

The fact our guys are down by only one is probably something positive to take away from the first 40 minutes.

The ducks are hacking, cross checking, interfering just as much as they usually do. The refs are choosing to let it go. Pronger knocked someone down in the first when they were going in after the puck, no call. Kronwall 'annoys' the player going in and gets called. It's not right. Call it consistently. If both are supposed to be penalties, then my God, call them both. Don't let obvious crap go then call light crap in the next period. So frustrating it's ridiculous.

At any rate, I agree with those who say we can't rely on the power play. The wings have not played well at all. I'm very surprised today. I thought they'd come in jumping. Maybe the flu is going around the dressing room? Hmm. Dats doesn't seem himself, neither does Hossa. I haven't even heard Zetterburg mentioned.
