Minnesota interviewing candidates for gm position

JF.....brilliant. :nonono: He did so well in TOR.

I'm still waiting for the thread to pop up with Yzerman being listed as a GM candidate for another team. I don't think it'll be too long from now.

I'm actually surprised that Jim Nill's name isn't being mentioned much with all of the potential positions available this summer.

We need to draft more MONSTERS with ACTIVE STICKS and BIG BODY PRESENCES, OK GUYS?!

If that's his philosophy as GM, I think half the people here would want him for the Wings. No joke. Big body presence = Downey with a full-time roster spot.

Also, I think Babs says "Filppula" that way too, doesn't he?

I'm on record, as of now: Pierre's one of the best minds in the game today and the best of the three candidates. JMO. I realize that's not exactly a popular position to take in these parts :D

...or that nobody's thrown about $20 billion at Hakan Andersson yet. Maybe not for GM, but at least for scouting director/assistant GM or something. Ericsson's emergence after being the last pick of the draft being just the latest amazing find, obviously his track record is nothing short of phenominal.

I was expecting to see Yzerman on that list when I read the title of the thread

You'll see his name on these lists after Team Canada wins gold at the Olympics next year. At that point, he'll be a hot commodity for a GM spot.

Yeah, I thought based upon the title that it was going to be Yzerman. It will be a sad day for me (although if it ever comes I will understand) if he is ever affiliated with another organization.

Why? Building Canadian National Team is easy, Steve has by far the most talent at his disposal .. and no cap.

Take every able bodied Canadian player that's available at the time, put them all on a list, and try compiling a complete team without being blasted in the Canadian media regarding every single player you'd take or didn't take. Believe me when I say that TSN will likely have an entire 1-2 hour special when the roster is announced.

I'm not saying Canada isn't extremely fortunate that we have lots of hockey talent, but there's a very good reason a man like Steve Yzerman was chosen for this job and that's because he knows what and who it takes to win. Also, who the hell is gonna yell at Stevie about the decisions he makes? Not me!

A day at the Minnesota Wild office:

Yeah, we got it, Pierre.

*Stands uncomfortably close to Asst. GM*

I see you there, Pierre.

Feel-Poo-Lah (in faux Finnish accent)

That's nice, Pierre.

Lol. Only thing it's missing is the term "roof-daddy".

The only GM job I have heard Yzerman linked to is Ottawa. Why would he have any desire to do it in Minnesota?

Whoever the next GM is, can you do something about those jerseys? Hideous.

Well, if I take my red wing shirt (and goggles) off for a minute and think about it, really I hope they get someone who works out for them and gets that organization back on track. Minnesota's a natural hockey market and it's really a shame to see them saddled with a very lackluster squad.
