This schedule has been out for a while. They make it way ahead of time for networks/TV preparation.

Hopefully if we win on tuesday, and you win on Wednesday, they will move thew games earlier, possibly changing the structure of the schedule. Thats why I want both teams to finish their series off.

I dont understand the scheduling.

It's bad, and the NHL should feel bad. Between having nine days off between the Conference Finals and Cup Finals and then having it start with a back to back, they really must have an excuse with scheduling conflicts at the JLA (or potentially the United Center ).

CBC are reporting that the NHL is looking to try and move the June 5th date ahead.

Also, a sidenote: The team with the longer break between series has never won a cup final.

This is a horrible idea. No matter how fast the WCF or ECF series end, the SCF game dates should stay the same for the sake of rest and recovery. Our team would not benefit by jumping into the SCF with all of our injuries at key positions.

Thats not ture at all, it's happened so many times it's not worth metioning them all, but the past 2 or 3 the team with the longer break has lost.

They are now looking for a possible May 30 and 31 for games 1 & 2. NBC's programming schedule is unfortunately running this. You would think if you signed a contract to cover the games, they would know they would have to be flexible. They are worried about Conan and sweeps.

You said it. If both the Pens and Wings close out the series early (5 or less games), the Finals schedule as it is now posted is completely ridiculous. There should never be back to back games in the most important series in the league. Combined with how long they scheduled to stretch the CF series with a few 2 day breaks... I just don't get it. How hard is it to schedule the teams to play every other day for 2 months (barring stadium schedule issues of course)?

TV purposes, so I understand wanting coverage, but back-to-backers on a Finals is ridiculous.

I just don't get what was so wrong with the past TV format with VS covering the first 2 games and then NBC thereafter for the rest of the series. Say what you want about VS but they pretty much bend over backwards at least during the playoffs to give the NHL playoffs good extensive publicity.

I'm semi OK with the 9 or 7 days off between series.

I don't like games on back-to-back days in the post-season.

Really hope they don't move it to the 30th, cause I have a concert I've been waiting for a long time to see Saturday night, and making me choose between watching the Wings in the SCF and going to a Third Eye Blind concert is like asking me to choose between children.

If the Pens finish off the Canes tomorrow, and the Wings beat the Hawks on Wednesday it's being rumoured the NHL will start the finals on May 30th, and then back to back on May 31st.

So i'm kind of hoping the Canes win so we get the extra break.
