Bringing him back for the Repeat! :P

I am joking of course.

I hope they do. Bring back the whole ******* team. Theres a reason teams rarely repeat, and its this thing called desire and motivation. Its a lot easier to go the extra mile when you know how much it sucks to lose it all in the end. But its a lot harder when you've spent the last year reveling in the glory of a Stanley Cup victory.

I just don't buy this theory. I buy more into the "long playoff run" + "everyone gunning for you" school of thought.

2 million is about right for Guerin; not a spectacular deal... maybe 250,000 too much or so... but he fits into their system and fits well with Cindy. Guerin would be our Samuelsson... and Sammy only makes about 1.3 million on the Red Wings and plays on our 3rd line.

Good for Guerin, good for Pittsburgh. Always nice to see a trade acquisition deal like this work out (generally speaking :P). Guerin has had a few playoff blunders, but he was somebody I always wouldn't have minded having on the Wings (in a bit of a reduced role now as he's gotten older obviously).

Not a bad deal for both teams if he plays like he did in the playoffs and final month or so. We'll see how a full season of Cindy calling for passes wears on him.

Guerin isn't getting any younger.

It would be a rather curious case if he did.

Should have retired and gone out on top like Drake did last year. BUT an extra 2 mill in the bank talks.... I thought he was pretty much a non-factor in the finals anyways...

Holy christ, you're right... I didn't realize he was that old. I retract my last comment when I said 2 million-ish was about right. I think Shanahan (who puts up more points) can be had for around $800,000.

You'd think Guerin would give a home-team discount; not bend them over and shaft them in the rear... but heck, if their GM is that stupid... then go for it. Lol.

A nice $2 million payday for the last season of his career, in all likelihood. Guerin can handle having the target on his back, but I don't think many of the other Pens' players can. Will they be able to fight for every victory and come back from 2-3 goal deficits to steal wins? We'll see. The Pens will need more from their compliment players because Crosby and Malkin cannot do it all once again with everyone gunning for them.

I think you guys are both right. It's impossible to deny that there were nights (several of them) in which the Wings seemed very flat. To me, that's a lack of motivation. Even in the playoffs there were numerous games in which the Wings didn't begin playing until the third period.

Yeah, he's a great guy. He's been a good fit. Considering he was making $4.5m last year, then $2m is pretty good. He worked out pretty well for a conditional pick.

Stupid on his part. He could go out skating around with the cup. Instead he is going to come back so that he can be reminded what a first or second round playoff exit feels like.

We see this over and over and nobody seems to learn from it. When you are in your late 30's and you win the cup just RETIRE ALREADY.

It's as bad as guys that jump to the team that just won the cup - Bertuzzi, Schneider, Hossa...

You'd think that people would learn.......
