Nero 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Which was the entire point of my post. He also had 3 goals and 3 assists against Atlanta since he left, and 1 goal and 2 assists against Pittsburgh since he left. You can't say for sure that he is a playoff choker based on one series alone That said. I don't really care either way. Edited July 1, 2009 by Nero
Yak19 303 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I know you're one of the Hossa Hate Bandwagon members, but to suggest that Havlat is a better playoff performer than Hossa is ludicrous. Hossa averages more points per game in the playoffs and has more experience. He's also twice the backchecker that Havlat is. I actually like Hossa but his s***ty play earned him his terrible shame. Ya he is a better backchecker but when the pressure is on Hossa cannot get it done.

He was not the force we needed in the post-season.
The Big Red Machine 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 The Hawks are going to blow up their team if they sign Hossa. The cap is going to go down next year and there is no way they resign Toews and Kane with Hossa. They will have a 1 year shot at the Cup. After that, enjoy Hossa. Nero 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) One series? He was relatively invisible except for three game fours. He was not the force we needed in the post-season. Oh yes, for Detroit. He choked for us. But he was one of the leading scorers last year for Pittsburgh. I was only counting his play against former teams in the playoffs, which is at a tally of one. AD2044 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 as much as I love Kenny Holland he has to be called out for not trading Hossa's rights. It was clear and evident to me that Hossa would not resign and it should have been clear to Kenny also.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Oh yes, for Detroit. He choked for us. But he was one of the leading scorers last year for Pittsburgh. Yeah. But I honestly think it was the different fit. He fit in better there than he ever did here.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 that's why i said they should offer havlat hossa's contract. he's awesome. if the wings were somehow able to sign havlat, leino and bring up abby, i couldn't be happier. Havlat wakes up every morning forgetting where he is... thanks to our bash brothers... he is rendered useless

It was clear and evident to me that Hossa would not resign and it should have been clear to Kenny also. Not gonna get too worked up over a potential 3rd round pick. I wasn't crazy about re-signing Hossa at all but that's what Kenny wanted to do and he must've been in the neighborhood to have been still at it.

It was clear and evident to me that Hossa would not resign and it should have been clear to Kenny also. It could have also been clear to every GM in the NHL too. Why would you give up a pick to talk to a guy who was going to test the market and you could talk to him for free today?

The Big Red Machine 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 The only way any of this makes sense is if the Hawks are signing Hossa to a short term contract. It just doesn't make sense.

Nero 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 The only way any of this makes sense is if the Hawks are signing Hossa to a short term contract. It just doesn't make sense. Maybe he just wants to keep up the one-year stands trying to end up on a team that happens to win a cup. He will be the ***** of the NHL eventually
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Yeah. But I honestly think it was the different fit. He fit in better there than he ever did here. This. And also the pressure factor. Lets face it - the guy wasn't exactly stepping up when the spotlight was on him. The more attention he got, the more he wilted. Its no wonder he did so well in Pittsburgh where no one expected them to win, and he was heavily overshadowed by Crosby.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) TSN columnists are bashing Hossa. http://www.ustream.tv/channel-popup/tml-live "Marian Hossa has lost his gamble" "Hawks would take Hossa Over Havlat" Edited July 1, 2009 by EZBAKETHAGANGSTA
RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Hossa would have to take another one year deal. He needs to settle down.

It was clear and evident to me that Hossa would not resign and it should have been clear to Kenny also. Ken holland did win Hockey News GM of the Year. I'm sure the other teams sensed that Detroit wouldn't have the cap space to re-sign hand therefore would have just waited until July 1st. If there was any indication of Hossa re-signing then there would have been offers coming in for Hossa's rights. If you're another GM, you might as well wait an extra day and if you have the money then you offer him a lucrative deal. Nothing against Kenny regarding Hossa. MadMan Mark 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 For as private as Hossa is with his business dealing, he is turning into quite the NHL *****. Money *****-sa should be the new nickname
Nero 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 This. And also the pressure factor. Lets face it - the guy wasn't exactly stepping up when the spotlight was on him. The more attention he got, the more he wilted. Its no wonder he did so well in Pittsburgh where no one expected them to win, and he was heavily overshadowed by Crosby. Was the spotlight on him when we were playing against Columbus? Anaheim? Chicago? He was practically invisible for Detroit all post-season long. And I seem to remember there being a whole buzz about Hossa at the trade deadline, when he got picked up by Pittsburgh. I'm sure there was pressure there, too. And he did well in the playoffs for them. My point is that he blew it with Detroit, but it's not fair to say that there is a "pressure factor" yet. Lets wait until next year. If it happens again, then we can start calling him a choker He had a good regular season with Detroit, and a good post-season with Pittsburgh. There really isn't any way you can call him a choker or not.
Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I'll believe it when I see that he has Officially Signed the Deal. Otherwise I think we may still have a shot to get him.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 It could have also been clear to every GM in the NHL too. Why would you give up a pick to talk to a guy who was going to test the market and you could talk to him for free today? Why is it so hard for people to see this. Why do people think that what they want to happen should always be what actually does happen? Give Kenny Holland the benefit of the doubt. He's the ******* GM of one of the most successful sports franchises in the history of the universe. He knows what the f*** he's doing, and you do not know whats going on. Its that simple. And I guess I'm glad that Chicago will only kick our ass in "meaningless" regular season games now.
