boo hossa?

I'm a lurker on this forum. I pretty much come to it to find the latest Wings news...but I'm here multiple times a day.

To anybody that thinks that booing Hossa is the right move, you are a moron.

It's been talked about for multiple times about how much he gave up in the long term for his one season with Detroit and how much he would give up in the long term to play elsewhere. now. He's already lost out on millions to give Detroit a shot.....you guys think he should give up more to stay here instead of Chicago? Come on...it makes no sense.

Boo the BlackHawks....nothing wrong with that. But, for any Red Wing fan to boo Hossa on his own his BS. He had an amazing regular season and he was snake bit in the playoffs. I definitley appreciate the bargain he took with us to win the Cup and if/we when this upcoming year I'll wish he had somehow been a part of it. The haters just don't understand how rare it is for a professional athlete in any sport to do what he did last year.

If they aren't wearing red and white, they may as well be wearing a Nazi flag, meaning you're enemy #1

Larry, Moe and Curly of the local chapter of MENSA. Bonus points to the chuzzlewit who decided to Godwin the thread. Anyone who equates a non-Red Wing with a Nazi should probably read more books.

FFS, there wasn't even any controversy behind him moving to the Hawks. I certainly enjoy seeing booing for the right players (i.e. Fedorov), but it's unfathomable why people would want to boo Hossa besides Nashville-like stupidity and nonsensically being butt-hurt about a rental player leaving.

Why boo Hossa when he was just doing what he felt he needed to do? Players come and go all the time, it's the nature of the game. I'm not going to boo Hossa, he was a great player for us and he did the best he could. I know that he said he wanted to stay in Detroit and he would take less money to stay in Detroit but he's gone and he did what he needed to do. I wish hime all the best. That being said I still hope Chicago doesn't get it's first Cup since 61 before the Wings get another Cup.

People boo Fedorov and he won a few cups for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Joe booing Hossa. Are they in the right to do it? No. Do they pay the money to do it? Yes.

Paying money doesn't give people the right to boo someone that doesn't deserve it.

I know a certain "chump" that will boo him, as he does Fedorov or anyone else who may leave because, God forbid, the don't want to play for the Wings at 50% of their worth

No doubt I'm with you that I'm against booing players because it makes us look bitter and pathetic. However, Hossa left for a lot less then 50% more and Federov left for LESS money...

Who cares if people boo someone? Are you afraid we might hurt Hossa's feelings? Will it make Detroit look bad? Do you really think of all the things going on in Detroit someone is going to watch a hockey game and hear some of the crowd boo Hossa and think, "Wow, what a horrible city. A city that boos a player is obviously not a nice place. I now put Detroit on a list of cities I don't respect."

News Flash: The rest of the country already has no respect for Detroit.

That saddens me, but it's true.

This is still America and if you want to boo, you're allowed to boo. Who cares if it's right or not? You friggin' PC assholes need to loosen up. It's not like they are throwing things at the guy. If you don't like a player, you have the right to boo him. It's been happening since the Roman Gladiator days... what makes us so special and enlightened that we can't voice our displeasure?

So sick of you bleeding hearts... you think you're so enlightened and so above everyone, but all you do is wussify everything you touch with your bulls*** ideas.

By the way, Fedorov deserved and will always deserve to be boo'd.

are we gunna boo him. we should.

As a rule, I don't attack people on the internet, but you are an idiot!

Why would you boo him? Because he didn't sign a contract that offered him way less than fair market value for what he is worth? Stupid!

Would you take a job that you are best qualified making minimum wage if you could do the same job making 5 times as much? Mind you, there are very few people around that can do that job as well as you.

If you took a job working for a family member, but moved on when a better offer came your way, would your family not invite you around for holidays?

Hossa's departure had nothing to do with loyalty or dedication but only his financial security. We are not allowed to offer him what we have in our pockets. The fact that he came here for one year to play for a reduced salary speaks volumes about his view of the Wings and the reputation of this organization.

Once the reality of life sets upon you, you'll realize what a dumb statement this is.

money is more important than what team u play for? selanne has the right idea

Yes. Money is more important than the team you were playing for. If you make 30k a year, it's easy to think there is no difference between making an average of 4 million versus 5 million over a 12 year contract. But that is 12 million dollars! He will need to live off of that money for the rest of his life. He has to pay an agent, TAXES, handlers, his family (assuming he has a wife and kids) to take care of. This is a job to them. They are not fans. Any wings fan who thought there wasn't a chance that he would be one and done, needs to take the blinders off.

Was I surprised he went to Chicago? Yes. Am I mad at him? No.

Agee on all points. Booing him would be silly. Time to stop living in your parents basement.

I am sure folks like yourself will. I however will not, and I expect a majority of fans to take the high road seeing as though the guy led our team in scoring, handled the transition with class, and hasn't had anything but great things to say about the Detroit organization in the past couple of days.

I haven't read through this thread, so I don't know what the overall opinion is, but anyone that boos Hossa is a ******* idiot. The guy did us a favor by signing a one year deal below market value when other teams were offering him $10 million/year. Hossa deserves a standing ovation his first game back at the Joe.

I will NOT booo him... I realize he was not suppose to single handly win us a championship! Whether he won a cup here or not, he is a great player or he would not have been the first player off the board with a huge contract, but he was, says alot..

Is it possible to boo Hossa for the logo on the front of his sweater rather than the name on the back? This means, of course, that my disdain for Hossa is no more or less than my disdain for Toews, Kane, etc. But it is disdain nonetheless.

There is a fine line, you know, between some good-natured booing, and the nasty, boorish booing we hear in some places. I'm merely suggesting the former.
