MadMan Mark 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 Regardless of the accuracy of what the fight was over, a minor who was likely drunk cruising the city and abusing his power is bad, over .20 or not. Not a minor at

cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 I think they changed their Heatley cover back when he had that whole thing going on.. so I don't think it's out of the question. Tentative release date of EA NHL 10: September 15.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) Tentative release date of EA NHL 10: September 15. From Wikipedia: Heatley was selected as the cover player for the 2004 installment of the EA Sports NHL video game franchise in 2003. However, due to the fallout from Heatley's accident shortly afterwards, EA switched the cover photo to Joe Sakic, although many copies of the game were shipped with his photo on them. MadMan Mark 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 For alcohol in the US? Yes. Wasn't this in BUffalo? You may be right, I always assume "Minor" refers to pre-18. He's adult in the eyes of the law at 18. My guess is it would be called underage drinking. I'm no lawyer, so what the hell do I know.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 This just in, from the Blackhawks: "This is nothing more than a total misunderstanding, as it wasn't supposed to happen like this; we had planned on it being Campbell. However, we really aren't worried because the League will help make it go away. As we speak, they are editing the law books with “Liquid Paper†™.

I have one of the Heatley copies myself. I had pre-ordered the game, so I had it on the launch date. With so much advance notice in this case, I wouldn't be surprised to see EA drop the hammer before the game even goes to the presses.

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 They should put Sean Avery on the cover instead. Actually, I'm quite surprised they used anyone other than Crosby on the cover.
LidsFan 68 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 I know one thing for sure, that I won't be rooting for team USA with Kane on the roster. There is no excuse that makes it okay for a twenty year old man to beat up a man in his sixties. Is that the kind of character they want represented on their team? The fact that the Black Hawks are going to stand behind Kane is sickening. I hate the fact that since he is a star, he thinks that he can do whatever he wants and does not have to worry about consequences. What ever happened to morals and respect for your elders? Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) There's a new blurb on TSN. Apparently the cab driver's attorney has made a public statement to the effect of this incident has "been blown out of proportion". And that "there was no robbery whatsoever" WTF! Did anybody see the interview with this cab driver? He seemed pretty sincerely shocked that he got strangled, punched and robbed. Now his attorney says what? When have you ever seen the plaintiffs attorney come out first with a statement that woudn't seem to benefit his client so far as a trial or settlement goes? This, coupled with Kane's complete silence and that of his attorney tells me that Kane, the Hawks, the Mayor, the city of Chicago itself, the lawyers, etc.....have been working on hushing this thing up and sweeping it under the rug. A few years ago I was a firsthand witness to an absolute travesty of justice here in Cincinnati, involving an ordinary citizen and the mighty powerful Procter & Gamble. P&G owns the city basically. Many elected and appointed officials who line their pockets with P&G money. It was a joke and opened up my eyes to the fact that the justice system can be f***ed with if there's enough money, power and influence. I wouldn't doubt for one second that what was reported in this story was the truth and that it's being swept under the rug. I wouldn't be surprised if the cab driver's attorney is a hockey fan and said, "listen, this is Patty Kane.....drop the charges, we'll settle for something (who knows what) and move on." Of course i'm merely speculating but this looks and smells like utter dogs***. ps: By this time next Monday, all charges will be dropped. Kane will be viewed as the victim and somewhere in Chicago Gary Bettman will be getting up off his knees and wiping off his mouth after having successfully administered his oral arguments in defense of Kane and how the "truth" must never come out. Afterwards he will be looking into hiring a hitman to take out Basillie as he can't seem to stifle the man's ambition. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 Getzlaf would get my vote. The NHL isn't going to market a Canadian guy playing in Anaheim of all places. Kane is young and American, playing in an original 6 city.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) From that article above (and the source): http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=287316 "There was a dispute over the fee and it just kind of escalated from there," LoTempio told the station. "It was not really a robbery. That is probably a large distortion of what happened." And it's funny hearing about all the distortions here too. Not like the media or or here would ever blow things out of proportion, mind you. Not a chance. "There was a dispute over the fee and it just kind of escalated from there," LoTempio told the station. "It was not really a robbery. That is probably a large distortion of what happened." Sounds like a doughnut story someone mentioned earlier. Who might that douchebag be?
