sputman 1,268 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 have you never played fantasy hockey before? you get points for most statistics, including penalty minutes, that's why you see hartnell and carcillo above franzen. obviously that's not an accurate list based on things like skill. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 I gave it a once over earlier, seems like a really lazy job on TSN's part, most of the player totals are identical to last year give or take 4-5 points.

Yes I have. How you explain Osgood at # 28?

Shaman 713 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 I am in 3 fantasy leagues and picked Dats everytime despite the fact he was ranked 10th and i had 4-8 picks
Torless 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 You guys are so off-base... TSN's prediction model involves an intricate simulation of 3 independant EA NHL10 seasons across 3 platforms, with AI coaching enabled. How can they possibly be more accurate than that? Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 I'd expect Osgood to be low, since he usually doesn't play as much as other starting goalies and the season he had last year, but those goalie projections seem a bit odd. Combined 49 wins for Hiller + Giguere is probably a stretch. 48 wins for Rinne + Ellis is downright hilarious.

Lidstrom for Norris 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 These ratings are an absolute joke. Since when has Daniel Carcillo or Scott Hartnell proved themselves as a top 20 player. Am i missing something?

In fantasy hockey penalty minutes are just as valuable as goals and points.
Lidstrom for Norris 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 In fantasy hockey penalty minutes are just as valuable as goals and points. This makes much more sense now. Thank you for clearing that up
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 There is a lot wrong with this list. Backstrom is a good play maker, but he's not better than Z. Hank has 40-50 goal potential, shoots a lot and has a good plus/minus. Backstrom gets assists, that's pretty much it. I want to meet the person that has the stones to pick Derek Roy over Vincent Lecavalier. Drafting Carcillo, Doan, or Hartnell over Franzen is foolish. Now granted Ozzie will only play in maybe 50-60 games, but would anyone really draft Jon Quick, Craig Anderson, Vesa Toskala or Kari Lehtonen over a guy that led his team to the Finals in each of the last two years? Speaking of fantasy hockey rankings, my rankings for goalies was posted today. Defensemen will be tomorrow and Forwards on Thursday. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted September 15, 2009 Backstrom had more points than Z last year (and more PIM), that's why he's higher. It has nothing to do with if they think Backstrom is a better player, just that it's not unlikely that he'll have more points this year again. But either way Backstrom is a great player, not as complete as Hank but if he works on his scoring he has the potential to reach 100 points. People sort of don't pay attention to him because of the flashier Ovechkin and Semin.

Guest lilja4mvp Report post Posted September 15, 2009 over a guy that led his team to the Finals in each of the last two years? which means what when it comes to fantasy hockey?
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted September 16, 2009 which means what when it comes to fantasy hockey? If you're good enough to lead your team to the Finals two years in a row, than you're likely to post good numbers across the board in the regular season. Much better than the Kings, Avs, Leafs or Thrashers goalies. Ozzie's bad regular season last year was a fluke, he'll bounce back this year.
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted September 16, 2009 I gave it a once over earlier, seems like a really lazy job on TSN's part, most of the player totals are identical to last year give or take 4-5 points. Nick Lidstrom's projected for 65ish points in 8 games if my memory serves... I stopped looking then. It means to me that this is user entered data, and not statistically done, therefore pointless.
