I'm not totally against the cap but it's sure hurting right now.

Also Bruce McLeod's response to me on twitter when I asked if he thought May would go down when Helm was ready.

RedWingsBruce @tmoore4075 I don't know. Sounds like May is here to stay, but he'll have to earn it. Right now, May seems ahead of Eaves.

Interesting response from McLeod. I actually see Babcock fully willing to bench Maltby. He did a few times last season and in the playoffs I think. Draper stays for his face-off ability, rotate May, Maltby, Helm, and Abdelkader. Could work.

I think that Abdelkader will stay down in GR for now, and that any rotation will be between Maltby, Eaves and May.

I'm with you. If Abby's not getting regular minutes here it's not worth having him here. As for Malts he's played well the first two games. But if he gets back to playing like last year I could see him being out quick.

He actually played 24 games that season, and 18 in the playoffs. If you wonder why I question your use of numbers -- this is why.

Not for the Ducks he didn't. And this is why I'm used to your skewing of any and everything to fit your ridiculous anti-fighter agenda.

i think its serves the wings better to have a great locker room guy, that can play with a nasty streak than a youngster still prone to making the mistakes that come with adjusting to the NHL.

this may be out there, butttt Big Bert is like 6'5-6'6 and nearly crippled someone. Why the f**** doesn't he take on some of that role. Its obvious he's got the size.

Because like Franzen, Bert sucks at fighting in spite of his size. Just not as bad as Franzen.

I like this move. May gives the Red Wings something they don't already have. After watching the first two games, I will gladly take any player that will add some energy to the team.

I would like to see Helm and May together on a line pretty soon. There is no way the Red Wings can justify sending Helm back to Grand Rapids. Sit Draper if it takes keeping Helm and May in the lineup. I think Draper is our least effective forward now (yes, even moreso than Maltby).

i don't know about all that now. just cause malts had a breakaway shorty doesnt' mean he's better then drapes...remember the faceoffs and the speed of drapes.

Draper's speed isn't all that essential when Helm comes back. Besides, Draper was playing the wing and Abdelkader was centering the line so the faceoffs aren't that significant either. I think Helm coming back makes Draper almost completely unnecessary.

Last I checked, you said a cup winning year, and last I checked, May had played for another team in the same year the Ducks won a cup. Can't even eat your own words with dignity. I think you need an enforcer.

Typical Shorie, acting like you proved something with some ridiculous side point.

18 playoff games for an enforcer "when it counts", and went on past the Red Wings to win the Cup = Fact.

Sweet. This dude was brought here for one reason, to punch people in the head - every other thing that he can do, other Wings can do better. I like that we have a head-puncher. The league has other, better head-punchers, but this one is ours. Better than nothing. Good work, Kenny!

A head puncher that has had some nice clutch goals in his career. This will be interesting. I'm glad the Wings are giving him a go.

I do have a solution though for tonight's game: Shoreline, Doc Holiday, and the other anti-rough crowd can close their eyes every shift that May is on the ice. I guarantee he will be throwing lots of checks, which will be hard to watch for this crowd. You can sit back and wish it was Hudler instead and all will be well.

There you go again with the mischaracterization. You haven't heard any of these guys complain about the May signing, quite the contrary actually. As lewd as Shoreline's emoticon is, it may be spot on.

I hope he runs Kopecky the whole game. Too bad the playoff choker is injured for them, cause I'd love to see him get ran also.

That's an extreme exaggeration and you know it.

Literally almost every post in this thread is positive about May joining the Red Wings. You can stop preaching your tireless act now.

Well, even though Abdelkader was playing centre, that didn't apply to faceoffs, if I recall correctly, just his role on the ice outside of the circle. Draper is still our best face-off man. Maltby has been playing well since the last post-season, so I wouldn't bench him for as long as Helm is out. Then cycle between him and May, and Eaves as well I guess. Knowing our team, we'll always have people injured, so everyone should get playing time.

Here's to Kopecky and Kane getting run by May. I would include people like Seabrook and Campbell, but let's not forget that they were our best players (and most assists on Detroit goals) in the Chicago series, so let's give them a break.

I just hope that his paperwork is sorted out...

Cause I haven't repeatedly said in the past that I enjoy seeing enforcers on the ice and would cheer any enforcer that plays for the Red Wings in every single one of their efforts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: you don't know what you are talking about.
