lines look a lot different with mule in there, don't they? this team's going to make the playoffs. how much damage will it do once it gets there? is it too early to forget about the stanley cup?

...that first line, we know its sick. bert isnt hossa, but if mule comes back strong, that second line is sick. leino and williams have both been stepping it up, gonna be nice to have them as a third group. drapes, malts, homer, etc. are all playing better than they did last year.

...defensively, same as last year. kindl might have an ericsson like impact.

...if ozzie turns it on again by the post season, sky's the limit, right?

teams still need time to gel, or fall apart.

im not sure which the Wings want to do just yet.

Pretty much all this member does is create topics with line combo threads, and a good bit of them. Not right/wrong, just is what it is, much like it is what it is with what egrogen said.

This is a pointless topic to be forecasting the playoffs/how a team will turn out several months from now. However if the playoffs started today i think Chicago would beat Colorado in the WCF, Pittsburgh would beat NYR in the ECF and Pittsburgh would beat Chicago in the SCF lol.

Don't expect Franzen to return to last year's playoff form. Full recovery for him won't be until next year. People are expecting way TOO MUCH! I think some people will be disappointed. I don't think Kronwall, now, is even the same defender he was since his knee surgery.

In light of that, it will depend entirely on how Howard does and who Holland is able to pick up at the trade deadline...... whether another goalie, if needed, or forward who can score...... otherwise the Wings may struggle to get to 40+ win mark. 41 wins will be the cutoff point to make the playoffs. Right now the Wings are below the 41 win mark. I don't think this team without a totally healthy Franzen is capable of winning 5 or 6 games in a row. Wings aren't going to win the division and if they make the playoffs it will be in the lower 4 seeds. The 20 game mark will certainly tell more..... at that point I am guessing the Wings will have 10 wins..... which puts them at a 40 win clip. It will be interesting to see if the Wings are one of the first 8 to get 38 points. Teams like Avs and Kings are certainly making a strong bid to make it to the playoffs with such a strong start. With 3 point games it is very hard to make up the points the last half of the season. Injuries are certainly the key..... if the Wings suffer any more injuries they will be S.O.L. ..... they have already raided the minors and they no longer have the depth they once had..... and THAT is the key for me why it will be a struggle.
