Hope they dont catch the flu bug...

Wings could win or lose this one much dependsing on the status of datsyuk, if pavel is out i think they'll lose..as we witnessed at vancouver and like babcosk says; the wings best players need to be their best players this year to be able to win with mediocre goaltending and sloppy Defense (and depth is no more, compared to last years squad) but if the 1st line produce some goals they can still win games.

Both he and Babcock have said he's expected to play, so no worries.

Hate to agree with mindfly ( :P ) but having Pavel playing is important. Hope he can play. I know Babs and Pavel have said he's in, but we all know how the medical staff are.. better safe than sorry.

4-1 Wings (Homer continues his streak x1, Z x1, Bert x2)

Oil - Hemsky

J-Ho will play well given the confidence gained from last game.

It's not as if the Wings are guaranteed to lose every game the ZDH line doesn't score. It's not as cut-and-dry as that.

Of course the Wings' best players need to be their best players, but there's enough talent on the roster with or without Dats to win plenty of games. It's just a matter of how the team plays. If they continue to possess the puck like they did the past two games, and crash the net like they did two nights ago, they'll be in fine shape regardless of Dats' status.

Staggering to me that they haven't sent Abdelkader down to Grand Rapids yet. Can someone explain to me the point in having him scratched for every 3rd game and when he does play he plays 8-9 minutes? Surely he'd be better off in Grand Rapids?

Anyway good luck to the boys tonight, hopefully they started to turn things around with all that offence in the 3rd against Vancouver.

in related news,

Oilers head coach Pat Quinn told media that Visnovsky may play sick in order to cough on forwards Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom.

If Homer get the flu, lots of goalie sweaters are gonna change color.

I'm glad that May will play in case that someone from the Wings needs to fight the flu.

I think this was more true when Mule was in the line up. They've looked dead out there (or snake-bitten like Bert) until Pavel lit a fire under them last game.

I hope he plays. Every game. :P

I have to tend to agree with that comment about the forwards. Especially about Bertuzzi being snake bitten. He's played very well on both sides of the puck (despite his -6 rating) and it's only a matter of time before the puck starts going in for him but so far he hasn't had any luck. Same can be said for a few guys. Leino has been quiet the last number of games as well. For me, I really thnk if they keep working hard and creating chances these guys will start putting up the numbers they are capable of. I still believe both Leino and Bertuzzi will end up with at least close to 20 a piece.

Yikes! Hopefully we can escape Edmonton with a win and swine flu free! We seem to be turning things around lately and that's the last thing we need right now!

For those that watch the Wings games on my Ustream channel, just a heads up, the Ustream servers have been acting up for the past 3-4 days. Some people can't watch streams and others can, so just be aware if it's not working for you it may not the whole night.

Alright let's go Wings, get that 2nd road win :)

So you're saying if the ZDH line doesn't score the Wings can't win a game? Cause that was the point of my post.

Obviously things are easier when that line factors in the scoring but its not as if the rest of the roster isn't capable of stringing together some wins if ZDH is held off scoreboard.

I don't recall saying that, no.
