The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Interested to see how Janik does tonight. With the exception of the odd blunder, I thought our team played very well in Calgary, and it showed on the scoreboard. If we can mirror even a little bit of that play tonight, I think we have a very good chance of downing a banged up Bruins squad. LET'S GO WINGS!!
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 I am excited about the new defensive pairings... they can't be any worse then what we have had with our "regulars" in
Cern 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Hrm, the preview on NHL.com is saying ericsson is likely to play tonight. No idea how reliable that is though
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) So we shouldn't expect any offensive contribution from the second D-pairing, eh? This could actually turn out well, Janik and Stuart can hang back and focus on defense and Meech and Lebda can exploit their offensive game. Good balance and a way to mask weaknesses with complimentary strengths. What's the handicap as far as injuries? Who's out for Boston, Lucic, Bergeron, Savard, is that right? (Edit: forgot the injuries were posted on the front page.) Edited November 3, 2009 by Chunkylover

Carman 387 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Tonight's D=Doo-doo. Let them atleast start to play the game before you declare the defense crap. We have no idea how the new pairs will mesh, who knows they may even have better chemistry than before. Janik isn't a horrible defenseman btw. It's not like he is a Andrew Peters of defenseman. I don't know, there's no "D" in Janik.... I would actually expect some pretty good things out of a Lebda/Stuart line, if that's how they go. Two veterans of the Wings system, complimentary styles. Neither is absolutely dreadful, and both are capable of inspired play. I doubt Janik/Anybody will have click at all in this first game because they've got nothing to build on yet. If you meant that he's a poor defensive player, then say it, don't make up a stupid word play to try and get your point across. Stuart/Lebda only works if Stuart plays how he did in Calgary. If he plays how he's played for most of the season thus far (i.e. a pylon), the second pair is almost worse off than the third.

Jaymister 71 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Babs said that these pairs will warm up, but may change in game: Lidström-Kronwall Stuart-Lebda Janik-Meech So basically we got three NHL dmen and three dmen that should all be playing in the minors tonight. Ozzie gonna have to stand on his head for us to have a chance tonight.
Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted November 3, 2009 as long as they stop trying to pinch, look before they pass, and clear the crease ( ) they'll be fine
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 We are lucky the Bruins are also struggling and have some injuries on their offense, because otherwise we'd be killed going into the game with that defense. I'm thinking both goaltenders will stand on their heads, but Wings take it 3-2 in OT.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Time to put real meaning to the phrase "stepping up" in terms of defense tonight
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 I was near-at-hand to saying that the Wings would finally face a team just as beaten up, but now we learn that our defense is sick on top of everything else! Well, as long as they make it into the playoffs, hopefully everybody will be back in the lineup and we will see the team we should be seeing.

Well, as long as they make it into the playoffs, hopefully everybody will be back in the lineup and we will see the team we should be seeing. Here's hoping our defensemen spread the germ to the Bruins, then, the Bruins take that germ and head into their November 10th game against the Pens and it decimates their team! FLY GERMS FLY!!!! Muwahahahaha!!!
