Guest Four Report post Posted November 13, 2009 With the mass amount of suspensions by the NHL already this year, do you think Cleary will get the shaft for his elbow to the face in tonight's game? Or a fine? I think it'll be reviewed.

Guest Four Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Where's that NHL suspension flowchart? According to the flow chart, I think it's a 1-5 day suspension

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 What happened? Danny actually did something dirty? Good on him, intimatidation was obviously key to us winning tonight Seriously though, what?
Guest Four Report post Posted November 13, 2009 It looked like he tried to do a jump-step thing around a player, but ended up giving him an elbow full to the face in a sort of cross-check-looking way.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I have no idea what Danny was doing, but I can't see it resulting in a suspension..
Guest Lidstromboli Report post Posted November 13, 2009 they barely even talked about it during the game
Zetts 236 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 A fine might be more appropriate. I wonder what he was thinking though.
hooon 1,089 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) I really thought he was just trying to jump past the player and get position with the free hand, but the player held his ground which resulted in clearly kinda beaming him with the forearm. It was a pretty heated game at that point, and my guess is Clearly sort of put a little extra into it, resulting in the elbow. Bad penalty to take. Not suspendable, imo. Or a fine? I think it'll be reviewed. I can't see it... for starters I don't even think you can establish intent. I think that Mickey was likely correct when he said that it looked like Cleary was simply raising his arms up in an effort to try and make himself thinner in an effort to squirt by Sedin. The contact also wasn't that hard.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Probably a fine.
Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I didn't see an elbow. I'm not saying it wasn't an elbow, I just didn't see it. I did see the hand go up with the butt end of his stick. Stupid move. No injury, no suspension.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 He deserves no fine or suspension. He was simply making up for the grit that Detroit lost in playing Miller instead of Newbury. Seriously, what play are you even talking about?

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I doubt it, it didn't seem intentional. Honestly it really did look intentional, and pretty harsh. A suspension wouldn't surprise me.

SpiritFan 37 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Why even have penalties in the game anymore? Every penalty should just be an automatic suspension. Did he elbow the guy, sure. But isn't that what a 2 minute penalty for elbowing is for? To punish the person doing the elbowing? If it was THAT bad, wouldn't the ref have made it a 5 & a game? I mean, if he SAW the elbow enough to make the call in the first place, he should know if it warranted 2, 5, etc. So now you take away the authority of the refs by reviewing everything & tossing suspensions around. No suspension. No fine.
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Oh puhleaze total accident Sedin should've gotten his head outta the way. If there was anything suspendable the ref should be whacked with a 2x4 over the Stuart "high stick".

One4TheWings 11 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) In my opinion, it looked like Cleary high-sticked him on purpose. It didn't look like he was hopping around him, he kept in a straight line. I think he was probably sending a message to the 'nucks. You keep gooning it up with Zetterberg and we'll do the same to your star players. It didn't look like intent to injure. It didn't look like he was going around Sedin, it looked like a message - plain and simple. Even Sedin was like "WTF!?" Obviously, no malice. No suspension. No fine. If Danny gets a fine or suspension for that. Then they'll need to fine/suspend Zetterberg for the gloved shots he took at the back of Kesler's helmeted head. I promise you that Z hit harder than Sedin got hit. Edited November 13, 2009 by One4TheWings
