If you mean MVP quality then no, if you mean solid members of the team, then all but Tatar already are. And looking at Tatar's development so far he might turn into quite a good top-6er. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Ericsson seems to have top 4 defensman potential once he steps away from the rookie mistakes, and he seems like someone that the Wings will want to have around for a while. Its really hard to gauge how good or bad Howard could be, and his future with the Wings is complicated with all the talent in net we apparently have in the minors right now. I do see him becoming a number 1 goalie somewhere at some point in his career, though. Tatar has yet to play a game in the NHL, but his AHL stats are pretty good right now. I can't make an opinion on him or his future with the Wings at this point, unfortunately. Helm has the same moldings of Draper, and I expect the organization will want that style of play as the foundation of a third or fourth line for a while. Eaves has looked amazing in a bottom 6 role. Granted, he isn't the top 6 scorer he was once thought to be, but he's cheap, effective, plays defensively, and has a lot of potential which are all things the Wings' organization values. I expect he'll be resigned after this year is up, but I don't know whether he'll be around long-term. If he continues to play and improve the way he has this season, though, I hope he's a Wing for as long as possible. And when Z and Dats were rookies, we were saying there's no Stevie or Shanny or Feds in that group. Before you count them out, give them the chance to grow into players they can be. Ericssson could be fantastic. He's got all the signs of Chara, but able to score. If he is coached properly, he COULD be a stud on our back end and eventually a Norris candidate. Helm will be the new Draper but better at most things except faceoffs. Well, it'd be great if he could be as good on faceoffs as Draper has been throughout this career............. So yeah, Ericsson could become... something. But he isn't Lidstrom who scored 60 points his first season. As far as the other 3, well, they're among the best players of the last 20 years. And they showed it in their first seasons. I'm not saying our prospects suck, but superstars they are not. FTR, I was calling Zetterberg as a future superstar before he played a day in the NHL. Yeah, he was also awarded with the Guldpuck (pretty much MVP for the SEL) in 2002 before he came over to Detroit. He was also the highest scoring player on the All-Rookie Team in 2003. Does anyone of Detroit's current prospects have that kind of history? Well, Larsson does, so we'll see what happens. Is there ever going to be a "Lidstrom" in "any bunch?" Ha ha ha, very funny. Guy hits about as much as Lidstrom and he's 3 inches and 30 lbs heavier. As far as who's gonna be gold: Larsson, Abdelkader, Eaves, Helm (Draper 2.0, more speed, less scoring), Tatar (who I keep calling Tater), and Kindl. McCollum too hopefully, but I don't know much about the kid, and I've never seen him play. He's got the coolest mask in the NHL/AHL, though.
