The hit of the night

Some clowns are saying elbow, late, and he left his feet, the only thing people can gripe about is that stajan got rocked in the head, but he returned, he had a cut from his visor, he put himself in a vulnerable position, he also received a poor pass, I doubt boychuck wasn't looking to totally destroy him, and he didn't just a solid clean hit, people really need to give up criticizing hits like this because they are totally clean.

I honestly have tried to find something wrong with the hit, and I can't. Other than it being to the head and Stajan getting a bit shaken up, I have no problem with it. Just kind of an issue of size mismatch.

Like coach said on HNIC last night, it was a height issue. If the do any thing to Boychuck, they have to do something EVERYTIME Chara hits someone.

Aside from that, clean hit. He had his head down and got smoked.

I'm all for huge hits, but it looks to me that Boychuk wasn't going to hit him square so he stuck out his flipper. Elbow to head. Yeah, there is a size difference, but an elbow to the head is an elbow to the head.

Cut off the elbows of every player and get rid of the sticks and pucks because if you can't control them all the time might as well get rid of them. Listen here sissy boys hockey is a hitting game don't like it watch golf where there's only sex, drugs and alcohol.

Clean hit. Boychuk caught Stajan in a bit of a vulnerable position. He didn't stick out the elbow, it was tucked in at the time of impact. He didn't leave his feet, he exploded up into the hit. The momentum, and the fact that Stajan crumpled, carried Boychuk up and over him. Head shot? Well, Stajan is much shorter and he was bent over. Of course his head is going to get hit. The league (all leagues--youth hockey has penalties for head checks too) needs to make sure and look at the position of the player getting hit as well as the hitting player's movements before handing out any suspensions.

I got to say it looked like a TUCKED elbow hit him in the head.

Looked clean to me, also looks like a teammate of Stajan's should have got 2 mins for not giving a s*** about your teammate, did anyone yell heads up? Or the guy who passed the puck, that was hanging your teammate out to dry at its finest!

Last week one of the Wings almost got hit without looking and on the broadcast you could hear the WHOLE bench yell what sounded like Heads up!

Then the player avoided the hit.

I didn't like the hit. Elbow to the head. It can be debated if it was intentional or not, but watching the replays made me cringe.

his bicep hits him in the head, why do people see anything different, if that was elbow, stajan wold not have gotten up

Dirty, and it's not even close. Clear intentional elbow to the head.

lol if he actually hit him with the elbow, which he didn't, clean hit, there is a 55 on Boyckuck's sleeve, that is clearly where the point of impact was.

Happy birthday Stajan, your present from Boychuk..... A lesson on keeping your head up through the neutral zone.

Beautiful hit people saying this is dirty aren't true fans of the classic game of hockey with big hits and skill.

I watched Boychuk play for a couple of years in Moose Jaw and he was laying out guys like this at least once a week. One time he nailed a guy against Swift Current in overtime and popped his helmet up 10 feet in the air. Glad he got his chance in the NHL, because he's got a hell of a shot from the blueline too. Not too accurate, but it's got to be around 100 mph.

We're all just stating opinions. On a YouTube clip, with a 4 inch video running of a long off camera shot, to me it looked like the elbow hit the head. It's debateable of course.

Cool, I'm glad the True Fan Police are out in full force. Personally, I'm not calling this a dirty hit but I do think it is a hit that should be penalized with penalty box time simply because my opinion is that he caught him with an elbow. It was far from egregious, and I don't think a suspension would be right.

There are shades of gray... to me his toe went over the line of the penalty threshold, but didn't come close to the suspension line. But it's OK to debate it.
