jollymania 162 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Serious question: are we done with the idea that Howard only plays bad teams? IT was pretty much debunked after the shelling he received courtesy of the Kings

Pucks 66 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 The whole team was excellent tonight. Jimmy stops pucks. The nightmare on Helm street was a beast again tonight. Datsyuk looked like himself tonight all over the ice.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 What an effort! That was the most complete game yet. The forechecking was tight, they were desperate clearing loose pucks and winning battles. They cleared the zone, they forced turnovers and didn't commit them. Great goaltending and capitalizing on opportunities. Hard to argue with this performance. If the Wings can get and stay healthy, they're going to be terrific. And if they do get in, some key players could start the playoffs rested if all goes well. redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 OT: Was watching after hours on CBC and they were talking about some guy at GM place who had a big giant green laser that he was shining in kippers eyes during the game while the play was going on lol

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 This West coast trip wound up pretty well for us, even though we only played well in two of the games. I just hope this team doesn't get too excited about it and overlook the Islanders next game. Those are the kind of games that can kill you.

People keep talking about the few games in October when the Wings were healthy and looked terrible, as if games in October ever mean anything. But if the Wings can stay in the hunt and get healthy, and they've learned to backcheck and penalty kill for the first time in two seasons, they'll be dangerous. Theophany 110 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Tonight's Three Stars - 1. Jimmy Howard 2. Darren Helm 3. Pavel Datsyuk I would have put Datsyuk as #2 and Helm as #3, but that's kind of a minor detail. Either way, Howard looked great (again), and our offense finally started showing up and controlling the puck. Good stuff, and two points. I'll take it. Miller Brew 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 As I wrote in the Anaheim GDT after we lost to the Ducks, "This loss doesn't bother me if we beat Coyotes and Sharks". Way to go Wings! Feels good to finally get some players back. Can't wait for Kronwall, Ericsson and Franzen. I would say Williams, but I don't want to see Miller get moved. j.hoop 64 Report post Posted January 10, 2010 Wow, the Wings just completely shut down the Sharks in the 3rd. Best played game of the season so far. i would say after the first period they shut them down. in the 3rd they couldnt get anything going, it was beautiful. this was a HUGE win, definitely a "measuring stick" game. after a slow first 10 minutes, the team got up and responded in a big way, and it was awesome to see dats get the ball rolling, and even greater to see how much we missed cleary. and once again, eaves miller and helm proved how invaluable they are and also how much this has reverted back to defensive minded hockey. all lines clear the net, and rush back to stop the play and get it back to the defensive end. the first line is looking awesome too. great game on another note, its so funny to see how in western teams how the fans boo at the most blatant things. If the Wings were to miss the playoffs by a point or two, I wonder how many people here would still be fans of the loser point.

To be honest, I can't wait until Williams gets back. He'll make our third line that much more effective.
