Here's where we get 50 armchair GMs bitching that Holland didn't give up players, and being completely oblivious to the fact that there's worlds more to GMing than just swapping around players on a roster.

Here's a pre-emptive 'shut up' to all who fit that category.

Well, can you blame them?

Holland has been completely clueless during the salary cap era.

I don't understand how that's a legal trade. Don't the two teams have to match up salary wise to a certain percentage?

No. As long as both teams remain under the cap, it's fine.

Wonder what NJ gave up?

Per ESPN:

In exchange, the Thrashers get rookie forward Niclas Bergfors, defenseman Johnny Oduya, prospect Patrice Cormier and a first-round draft pick.

Oduya has two more years on his deal after this season at a $3.5 million salary-cap hit. Bergfors will be a restricted free agent July 1. Cormier was suspended for the rest of the season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for an elbowing incident but he's a highly regarded prospect.

In addition to Kovalchuk, New Jersey also also gets defenseman Anssi Salmela, who was originally a Devil and sent to Atlanta at the trade deadline last year.

Also, if Atlanta did get Cormier, they could have inherited a potential cancer. Sometimes talent isn't everything, and from what Cormier has shown, his character and respect for the game/other players is suspect at best.

That would be baiting and you could be banned for it...

Yes, please go a head and do it.

I don't think very many people get banned for baiting.
