I wonder if this will affect his work somehow or if he can put this tragic loss behind him when he's at the office?

You're dumb.

My thoughts are with both families.

I've somehow grown a soft spot for Burke over the years -- at least the guy is willing to shake things up and keep it interesting. A friend of ours recently lost a son at the same age and there's few things more difficult.

Different people grieve differently. For some, the return to work is a needed outlet for energy, for the support of co-workers, or for a feeling of normalcy in times that have turned one's world upside down. For others, more time is needed away from the stress of daily life.

I hope that Burke's staff is able to run things either with or without him as needed so that he can focus on what's important right now- his family.

It is a busy time for him with the trades/trade deadline and the Olympics looming.

Whatever he chooses, it is a highly personal decision and should be respected.

Just left the Leafs game here in Toronto. The first period was over, the leafs were up 3-0, I had a headache so I left.

I must say the moment of silence at the ACC tonight was very touching. A packed house, and you could have heard a pin drop. Didn't see Burke up in his normal spot, understandably so. But a nice show of respect by the Leafs and their fans.

Horrible news... Life really is just a crap-shoot sometimes. Any one of us could have been in a car that lost control. Basically just comes down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So random, yet so enormous of an event. Here one day, gone one night. This is the kind of story that makes me tell my loved ones I love them. Cause they could be gone any random day. I sure hope there is something after this life...
