What do you expect?? they cant score 5 goals or even 4 when the fire 40-50+ shots on goal in the game- hell, they even struggle to score 3 goals in a game, what makes you think they can score in a shootout???

because its 1 on 1?

This ******* pisses me off. Our shooters give themselves horrible opportunities to score. It's like they want to pull off a great move so everyone will talk about it if they score. I wish one time, every shootout guy would go in and shoot, no dekes or anything. They get too damn cute out there and sometimes you need to just bury it.

i remember the last time dats and z didnt deke and just shot. no one scored. we lost

i dont really know what dats was thinking in that shootout tho. that was a lameeeee attempt

he simply didn't want to upset Nabokov before Olympics, otherwise Nabokov would have mental breakdown and would suck at the Games ;))

Before this thread gets deleted, I'll just step forward and give Nabokov all the credit in the world. He stole those points tonight. The Sharks were playing well below their capabilities offensively, for whatever reason, but stopping ~ 50 shots is amazing.

If he plays like this in the playoffs, they're winning the Cup, no matter how bad Thornton chokes.

Nabby played well, but at this point we make anyone in net look Vezina worthy... our offense just flat out blows.

As I said, Babcock should have pulled Howard for the 5 on 3 in the OT.

I know the net would have been empty, but when a team is 2 men down, they don't have many chances at the empty net.

With our shootout record, it would have been the right thing to do. We already had a point secured anyway.

Actually, the point would have no longer been secured. If a team pulls the goalie in OT and loses, they forfeit the point.

WRONG--if the sharks scored into the empty net in OT the Wings would not get a point--NHL RULES.

It's games like these that make me hate the shootout. It's not even so much the fact we always lose them, but moreso the fact that us fans were cheated out of a very good hockey game and a true winner. Say what you want about "excitement" but I'd rather watch that overtime again then any of those shootout attempts.

The same could be said for Babs putting out Datsyuk and Williams. They didn't fare any better.

Datsyuk - Naw. He's their best at nearly 50% for his career.

Williams - Decent choice at 41% for his career.

Bertuzzi - :flamingmad:

I don't post on here alot I kinda come on and just read, but this time I though I would. f***en fed up with this shootout bulls***. How can a team with players such as datsyuk franzen zetterberg filppula etc continuously lose...whens the last time we won in a SO?!?!?! Can't blame Howard...We had a 4 on 3 in OT and didn't score once in shootout. We have to learn how to win and be desperate when the chance is there. Can't keep getting 1 pt here 1 pt there. By the way why not put Franzen in the shootout?! Wake up boys! Still have 22 games left plenty of time...but we gotta start getting wins or we'll be sitting watching the playoffs..that doesn't sound right..Detroit and no playoffs? f***!

this team has no idea how to win. 2 wins in the last 10 games. they're a ******* joke. datsyuk is invisible. he turned from maybe the best player in the world to 2nd tier over-*******-night. how is that even possible? i'm so frustrated with this ******* team!!!

:ranting:

We can't steal points when we're being outplayed and we can't secure points when we're outplaying other teams. That means we don't get a lot of points.

Damn goalies standing on their heads, bounces not going our way, players missing open nets, s***outs, injures.. this season is like a bad headache.

Why does Babcock insist on Bertuzzi at all the wrong moments?? Bert in front of Zetts AND Mule on the shootout, not to mention flip, helm, cleary?? WTFFFFFFFFFFF that s*** pisses me off so much

Really?

I learned something tonight. I guess since no one has ever done it, that's why I had no clue about the rule.

really? you know it was in OT.

Really.

84.2 Overtime – Regular-season – Extra Attacker - A team shall be allowed to pull its goalkeeper in favor of an additional skater in the overtime period. However, should that team lose the game during the time in which the goalkeeper has been removed, it would forfeit the automatic point gained in the tie at the end of regulation play, except if the goalkeeper has been removed at the call of a delayed penalty against the other team.
