Carman 387 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Penguins get away with again? Not a big surprise... Got away with what? A clean hit? Because that's all I saw. Until they make the rule, this is a legal hit.
henrik40 76 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Definitely a hit with his shoulder I think. The problem was it looked like he had his head lined up the whole time. How hits to the head like this haven't been made illegal ceases to amaze me. Edited March 7, 2010 by henrik40
Free_Candy 38 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 It was a horrible hit, and Cooke deserves to be suspended. No excuses. 1 SiLkK19 reacted to this
Mors 201 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Got away with what? A clean hit? Because that's all I saw. Until they make the rule, this is a legal hit. What are you smoking? 100% elbow on that one after an approach from behind, very classy.
henrik40 76 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 What are you smoking? 100% elbow on that one after an approach from behind, very classy. I'd have to disagree. It looked like shoulder to me, but clearly the intent was to hit his head. Thats the problem I have with it.

cupforwings 138 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Yeah, that was defiantly an elbow and would be called that in any league... nothing about that was clean. And hopefully he does get suspend, but he probably won't.
Greatness=PavelDatsyuk 65 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 I don't know if it was an elbow or not, but he definitely was aiming for his head
Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Disgusting.... Why do it? total control of his elbow, had all day to line it up and did.. What a P.O.S player to head hunt like that.
cjm502 165 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Just because a hit is legal does not mean it is clean. Elbow or not, he was going for the head. Just because a player doesn't leave his feet, or lead with an elbow never means it is not dirty. Oh yeah, total elbow. Turn the quality up, full screen it, watch all the angles. I cant tell if his elbow was out on the initial hit, but there is no question it was on the follow through. Edited March 8, 2010 by cjm502
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 That was a dirty hit, looked low with the elbow. Not to mention it was a completely unneeded hit what purpose did that serve in the 1st place?
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Just because there isn't a rule about hitting to the head doesn't mean that HEADHUNTING is legal.
syntax 359 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Shoulder to head. Worth at least 3 games IMO. Seeing as it's s***tsburgh it'll be business as usual in the NHL though.
newfy 695 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 No elbow, got the head a bit but Savard was leaning forward. Not as bad as everyone here is making it seem but he'll probably get a couple games for it.
13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 To all that say "it's not as bad as it seems" you are wrong! Honestly at first look I didn't think it was that big of a deal but when shown in sequence with all of his other headshots>Matt Cooke is a c***
Original-Six 254 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Cooke is a POS. Hes always going out of his way to make knee on knee or head shots on players.

soonboomer 31 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Yeah. I've heard it said that a fan of two competing teams is a true fan of neither. What's your opinion? 1 SiLkK19 reacted to this
Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 How will Cindy get another Cup if we just start suspending every teammate of his that plays dirty? Next, you will want the officials to start calling Cindy for diving. What's wrong with you? You must be a noob at hockey.
Carman 387 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 I've heard it said that a fan of two competing teams is a true fan of neither. What's your opinion? My opinion is that considering I have season tickets to the Red Wings, and have been following them since birth that they are my favorite team. But also considering Pittsburgh has my favorite player, happen to be in the Eastern Conference and play great hockey makes them my second favorite team. Being a "true" fan is a personal thing. I don't need to prove my "fandom" to anyone but myself.
