What makes you think they have a chance? PROS: Nick is coming back. Brett Lebda isn't. No Olympics. That little guy's back. We get to see some young guys from GR. Flip, Ericsson, and Howard have one more year of experience. CONS: Nick took $6.2 million. No cash for a decent free agent. There's no addition to a losing team, just subtraction. THE WINGS GOT FIGURED OUT BY THE SHARKS, who's next?
while i don't think your thread is going to go well, the bolded part i thought was kinda weird. i don't think there's a whole lot of GR guys that can expect time this year. ritola will most likely get his shot as he is out of options, but other than that, i can't think of any GR players that will get good time this year. assuming they try and bring back lilja or a comparable player, the 6 D are set. aside from ritola, there's really no room for another young forward either. am i missing something?
I love Maltby, but to say he wasn't a ****** is a dis-service to his career of douchebaggery.

Kindl. I don't know if it'll work out, but he's guaranteed to at least get a shot. He's also out of options.while i don't think your thread is going to go well, the bolded part i thought was kinda weird. i don't think there's a whole lot of GR guys that can expect time this year. ritola will most likely get his shot as he is out of options, but other than that, i can't think of any GR players that will get good time this year. assuming they try and bring back lilja or a comparable player, the 6 D are set. aside from ritola, there's really no room for another young forward either. am i missing something?
As for the OP, at the moment I'm not ecstatic, but it could be an interesting season. It'll be nice to have Hudler back. Hopefully he can handle top 2 line minutes all season this time around.
But we haven't even hit the first day of free agency, so I'll wait until later for a final verdict. We don't have room for a lot, but our 3rd and 4th lines could look a bit different.

except we're not... you'll have a 100% Franzen, a 100% Kronwall, a goal scorer in Hudler, a better seasoned Howard and a better gelled and cohesive Abdelkader, Helm, Eaves and possibly Miller... plus, there's a good chance we add some toughness...We're gonna be the same team but older that needed 7 games to beat Phoenix and got beat by San Jose in 5. We would have gotten dismantled by Chicago. Howard is still between the pipes after the chokejob in the playoffs.
I have lots to look forward to for next year.

Hudler is crap. He'll be the most hated player on this board 3 months into the season.except we're not... you'll have a 100% Franzen, a 100% Kronwall, a goal scorer in Hudler, a better seasoned Howard and a better gelled and cohesive Abdelkader, Helm, Eaves and possibly Miller... plus, there's a good chance we add some toughness...
Kronwall has regressed mightily the last 2 years and it has nothing to do with injuries. He's just plain bad handling the puck.
Miller- 4th line plugger. Maybe 25 points.
Eaves- 3rd line plugger. Hopefully 35-40 points.
Helm- 3rd line checker. Hopefully 45 points and better on faceoffs.
Abdelkader- 4th line wannabee fighter. Hopefully 35 points and not beat up too many times.
Those last 4 players aren't going to be the guys that get us over the hump this year, the year after or 10 years down the road.

about who?? Hudler.and... bookmarked....
be prepared to eat crow.
I guarantee that Hudler will score 55-65 points but will have a +/- of atleast -10. By November or December everyone will hate him.

About Adbelkader too... he could develop into a 20 goal player - it's probably not going to happen next year, but the potential is there and he is not, nor has he ever been a fighter... he's just willing to when the moment calls for it...about who?? Hudler.

As for Hudler, he will likely be on a line with Z or Dats ALL season, which will take over for his defensive weaknesses and raise his point totals... I predict he will have at least 60pts and be a + player when all is said and done next year...
Also, with the other point totals you predicted, how is that bad for bottom 6 guys? This team WILL be better, if for no other reason, a healthy Franzen for a full season...

Y'all might as well not watch next season then if we're already going to fail before we start.Yes we are the same team. Our window of opportunity to win cups ended last year with our choke job against Pittsburgh. It will take an overhaul for us to get in a position to be a contender again. We are too old and too soft to win in the playoffs and Howard SUCKED in the playoffs.
Good grief.

For everyone that think its a con for re-signing lids at that much I just want to let you guys know there is no other FA that could even come in the Wings and have the impact that Lidstrom on this team. Im really with him re-signing IMO best FA signing this off season. Would rather have Lidstrom over anyone.
The second this team will lose Lids, Wings will fall down to a good team from being elite.

for the record, I would have preferred we traded his rights prior to the deadline for a scoring threat last year and am by no means a Hudler slappy, but people overlook his ability and what he brings to the team too... the guy has a nose for the net and likes to shoot and that IS something we missed last year...uhoh... You said something bad about hudler!!! bad gongshow!

Please explain to us how he was the sole and only reason here. How quickly everyone forgets how badly Hudler sucks. Remember he was the reason we lost Game 7 against Pittsburgh 1 year ago. Everyone was happy to see him leave for Russia then...
But now he's gonna be the saviour for next year's team.
Your name holds true you know that? You are a gong... Quit acting like one...

Go back and watch the second goal that Talbot scored. That was purely Hudler's fault because he can't play defense worth s***.Please explain to us how he was the sole and only reason here.
