These bits made my eyes pop out

Link to article

Boogaard's four-year, $6.6 million contract seems wildly excessive and will challenge coach John Tortorella's familiar assertion that paychecks don't influence lineup decisions. It is a fact, however, that Edmonton actually offered Boogaard -- who is going to Russia this summer to train with Pavel Datsyuk --$7 million over four years.

not sure what is more mind bogging, Edmonton offering the Boogeyman $7 million over 4 years, or that the Boogeyman is going to train with Pasha in Russia this offseason.

Edmonton is a horrible organization. They over pay their players so much because no one wants to go there.

Just cause you look like the gimp don't mean you play like the gimp!

Boogard trained with datsyuk in Russia last offseason as well.

That is why some people speculated that Boogard signing in Detroit was a good possibility.

Pavel datsyuk is the best player in the world because he snatches the puck from unsuspecting forwards, then dangles 2 defenceman, and follows it up by doing "the datsyuk" on his victims, then calmly skates back to his bench ,and goes home to his girlfriend back in the motherland.

Well Edmonton did a lot better by giving Steve MacIntyre 500K instead of the outrageous s*** offered to Boogaard.

just wait till Boogie will learn a couple of datsykian deekes. He'll be more than a power forward then!
Sweet. This dude was brought here for one reason, to punch people in the head - every other thing that he can do, other Wings can do better. I like that we have a head-puncher. The league has other, better head-punchers, but this one is ours. Better than nothing. Good work, Kenny!

Betweenf****** Glen Sather and the dumbass Oilers, we never had a shot at Boogaard. Why are teams/gm's so stupid? Boogaard is an ok hockey player, sure he's the toughest dude in the NHL, but anything more then 800k a year is ridiculous overpayment. And Edmonton were ready to give him almost more then a million more then that, incredible.

Brian McGrattan 2013. Get it done Kenny.

Why is it Datsyuk's name is the only one not highlighted there?

I don't care how tough Boogy is. No way he should be making over a million per season. Especially in this salary cap era. Seriously unbelievable.

Booger (I wonder if anyone has called him that to his face...) went over last year to help Pavel with his camp for kids in Pav's hometown. Boog is from Sask. Pav is from Siberia. I used to live in Sask. From what I hear, they're similar.

My money on the board pledge:

$1 for each goal scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.

An additional $5 for each hat trick scored by a player after whom I have named a hamster.

An additional $10 if any of the above goals is the GWG goal that gives us the series win.

An additional $50 if it is the GWG that wins us the Cup.

$5 for a SO by Jimmy.

Hamsters' names (current players in RED):  Henrik Pavel Tomas Nicklas Dominik

                                                                      Niklas Matthieu Daniel Robert

                                                                      Johan Andreas Valtteri Jonathan

                                                                      Andrew Patrick Ian Todd

And introducing:  Jordin Damien Gustav James

TOTAL SO FAR: $24

That would of been so cool to see Boogard come to Detroit, living in Minnesota and watching him play is actually fun. It's amazing hearing the fans chant Boogard.

I can't wait to see Avery and Boogard together this year on the Rangers. I'm sure I'll get some s*** for saying that.

Saskatchewan and Siberia are similar? Haha what? Maybe the climate, but that is about it. They probably couldn't be any more different!

Kinda blew my mind seeing them work together last year. I don't know who was trying to change who's game, but...hear tell they had a mixed martial arts guy there too...now, what does that imply???
