Wow! Poor Bob! What a horrible loss...and a reminder of a different time in Wings history. People in and around Detroit and Windsor loved Probert and the whoopass he regularly dished out. What better hero to have in blue-collar towns like those? A big loss. R.I.P. Bob!

I just heard the news not too long ago when I came home, my dad has been a Red Wing fan all his life and he was very sad and shocked when I told him. He was soo young only 45. Very sad. I don't believe I ever seen him play but I have seen him at ceremonies and what not, I seen him on something not too long ago. What a great hockey player and will be missed by many. I can see how people at first thought maybe he just collapsed from the heat or alcohol or something who knows cause it was soo hot out and you got to stay hydrated but it was much more worse. I can't imagine what his family and friends are going through and I hope he wasn't in a lot of pain. Heart problems have been happening with a lot of people lately, everyone please make sure you get check ups, a lot of people have undetected heart problems. Rest in peace.

RIP Probie. Arguably the greatest enforcer the game ever had.

I started watching the Wings in the mid-80s, and man was Probert one of the reasons to watch. Yzerman was the Wing's offense, and he got so much room out there because of #24. It would've been too easy to take a run at Stevie Y if they didn't have to answer to Probert.

Bob's 87-88 season was the best ever for an enforcer of his caliber. I'll never forget seeing him in the all-star game with Yzerman. He didn't know what to do out there because you don't really hit guys in the All star game.

74 games, 29 Goals, 33 assists for 62 points while amassing 398 PIM. In the playoffs that year he led the team with 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 16 games (that was the year of Yzerman's knee injury). It was a record held by Probert until Fedorov broke it in the mid 90s, I think.

Sad day for the Red Wings. Sad day for hockey.

I know everyone is mad at the Hawks, but give this a read and tell me the organization didn't try to do their best to care for Probert.

I just read about his passing on this board. I cannot believe it. In spite of his lifestyle he was way too young for this.

One thing most of you will have over me is that you will have all those memories of him on the ice. I didn't get to watch him that much, and oh how I wish I had shown up in time.

This is the bottom line for all of you out there. No one can ever take those wild, crazy and precious memories of him away from you.

My condolences to his family. The pain for them has to be almost unbearable right now.

I specifically signed up for this forum to give my regards to all you Detroit fans. I am a die-hard Blues fan, yet find myself devastated by the loss of Probie. What an absolute warrior, and a hell of a hockey player. I am 29 years old, grew up hating Probert, but always dreamed of how great he would look in the 'Note.

I am so sorry for your loss Detroit. Life has a way of smacking you between the eyes, does it not?

Was it the heat? It's been in the mid-90's around here lately, probably even hotter on the water (guess he was working on his boat). Was shocked to hear this news. RIP #24.
