T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 Never saw Battle of the Blades last year. I heard the producers told Probie that if he does it, Domi would do it too; and then they told Domi that Probie said if Domi would do it, he would do it too. So they both agreed to do it. Love his attitude, he was crackin up out there just having fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pL0hU0zZ-A&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVJRomwjPTs&feature=related

Stevie got my into hockey, and Probie made me love it. Thanks for the memories #24, my prayers are with your wife and children.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 From the second of the above links: During Friday's service, it was mentioned that the most important part of a tombstone inscription is not the date or birth, nor the date of death. It's the dash that comes between the two. Anyone who had the good fortune to know Probert knows this: He put plenty of dash into his life. I thought that was great.
Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted July 11, 2010 That Bob Duff column was one of the best I've read about Probie. Kudos. God, I still can't believe he's gone. I spent part of yesterday evening watching some of his old fights. I forgot how tough he was. There will never be another like him.
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Not only the greatest Wings enforcer, but perhaps the greatest enforcer of all time.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 11, 2010 Without a doubt the most feared enforcer of all time.He was far more than just an enforcer.Best power forward of all time.398 penalty minutes and more than 20 goals in one season? That's unbelievable. There will never again be such a dominant, feared player like Probie. A feared enforcer who is good for 20 goals a year is nearly unheard of in today's NHL.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 13, 2010 Indeed the power forward is an endangered species in today's NHL.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) It's still hard to believe he's no longer with us. I know. I've been having a hard time of it too. Maybe it's because he was only one year (plus a few days) older than I am. Maybe it's because my dad also died unexpectedly of a heart attack, and this just awakens old wounds. The last line in his obituary was, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." I think this was his family's way of saying that he is now at peace. With all of his problems and addictions, he had a hard life. If you've ever been an addict (or known one) you know that it is a hard battle every single day. It is always there beneath the surface even if you have overcome it on the outside. When he died, he was clean and sober and had a loving family that he cherished. Bob's battle is now over, and he has won. RIP, Bob. Edited July 16, 2010 by 55fan
