A wise man once said, "I'd rather be old and wise than young and dumb any day."

Wasn't that Brett Hull, said when they were told in 2001-2 that the Wings were too old to win a cup? I believe he said it to Chris Chelios.

I'm going from memory here. I could be wrong.

check it out... Pens fans are very knowledgeable, and unbiased.

Lol.

In the 26 hours you have belonged to our dear site, you have shown nothing but how unknowledgeable and biased you are. Lets hope that you are not an accurate depiction of the fan base as a whole.

I know a couple of Pens fans IRL and they're actually quite knowledgeable. Now the Hawks "fans" I've met/talked to have no idea wtf they're talking about. I'm willing to bet that 90% of Chicago's fans don't even know that there's a regular season.

99% of things i see posted on other teams fan sites about the Wings....

Wings are old

Wings are too old

Wings will miss playoffs because they are old

Joe Louis retirement home jokes

Wings will suck next year because they are old

I hate the Wings

I hope Wings go on 50 year playoff drought

Wings are old

You forgot "Yzerman went to Tampa because he didn't want to run a team of old people"

Yes, they were serious....

calgary puck is a pretty good site. i have been over there for several years. they have a lot of very knowledgeable fans.

they have 2 problems: 1)a decent amount of people there have an irrational hatred of the wings based on jealousy. though most people can be impartial, whenever the wings play the flames several trolls come out of the woodwork and can make it rough. 2)after their great run in 04 they havent won a playoffs series and even choked away their playoff spot last year. its made their fan base very bitter. so they have a civil war going on over people that are still supportive and those that want to see the whole org blown up and rebuilt. so they often fight amongst themselves.

They might of forgot what was said due to old age!

It was a post-game press conference and a member of the media asked Hull about him and Igor and their goals in game 3 of the SCF. He was recalling something he said to Iggy prior to the game.

I belong to a number of other teams fan sites -- although I don't visit them much -- under this same username...because I wouldn't troll. Some are okay, most tend to be boring. I haven't been around to any of them lately though...have enough to do.

Yeah, I know.

I once thought about doing a 29 forums in 29 days thing, where I'd try to get banned from all 29 forums around the NHL. Then I found out about this rule on LGW about not trolling on other teams' forums, so I never did it.

I wonder why we have a rule on LGW, which controls what members do on other forums? I mean is it really the mods business what I do on the rest of the internet?

It isn't the mods business what you do around the rest of the Internet. However, this is Matt's site, and he can pretty much do whatever he wants. I'm sure he doesn't want his site to get a reputation of having its members troll other people's sites. No reason to turn this in the hockey version of 4chan...

Go back and read vladdy16's post and my post, and you'll see why that rule is in place.

No one's saying you can't go to other site, chat, make friends and be civil...

Thank you. My memory is failing me lately. Old age. Hey, I'd rather be old and... something.

This. Also, if the members of the other forum discover that the trolling is coming from an LGW member, it tends to cause them to sign up here to retaliate. Trust us, retaliatory trolling is about the last thing we need around here.

To get back to the OP's question, LGW is a member site of the Hockey Alliance, which has links to blogs and forums for several other teams as well. You might be able to find a few good sites there too.

That's what I always assumed it was.

For every Wings fan who goes to another site to troll, it probably brings them tenfold to this site.

of course Matt can't control what people do on other websites. But I completely understand him wanting to get rid of people here who basically bring a bunch of trolls to his website through their actions.
