syntax 359 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Two great teams played tonight. The Wings look nothing like the team that struggled so much last year, and the Canucks are deeper, more dangerous and hit more than last year. And they are beasts in the face-off circle. Wings handle the puck in the offensive zone and play the boards so well. They rival the Sedins in that area. Canucks are dangerous always, including on the penalty kill. Wings simply ran out of gas in the third period. Also, I thought the refs called a great game. Great game all around (from my point of view). We don't play 3 games in 4 nights and get Rafalski back and we'll actually see whom is the better team. (Us.) That being said, Vancouver is for real. They're gonna have a great season. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Third period was ugly but not unexpected. It didn't feel like the Wings got a very fair shake at the Nucks but it's not about fair, it's about who wins. They're obviously very good so I look forward to their next meeting at the Joe. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 theyre spent howard played well I know he's not to blame for some of them, but he gave up 6 goals. No one who played a good game in the defensive zone tonight.

That being said, Vancouver is for real. They're gonna have a great season. I don't recall saying the Canucks were the better team but if you want to claim that prize it's yours. Thing is, we win more back-to-backs than we lose and we've had our share of injuries too, including one of our top D-men at the moment. Anyways, not trying to start anything. Just responding back. I'm gonna split. You guys don't want me around after a loss. Just thought I'd give you my game-takes and how great I thought Detroit looked until they tuckered out. Must be hard getting old. clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 howard is the #1. any other team wouldve done the same Not sure I agree. 3 games in 4 nights for a goalie coming of a minor injury is...questionable.
Guest Heaten Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Franzen is snake bitten and Hudler can't bury his chances. This game could have been 6-3 Detroit if the boys didn't fumble the puck. Back to back games aside, the Wings won the first 2 periods, the 3rd they ran out of steam. Glad to see the boys got 4 points out of a possible 6 though. Wings look damn good this year and I think they have best chance out of the western conf. to win the cup. Franzen needs to score his 100th so he can stop gripping his stick so tight. GSBrooks13 204 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Im not gonna try to start anything on Datsyuk because he is by far my favourite forward in the league. But does anyone else think he must be feeling a little under the weather the last couple games? I can't remember many games where he gets hit that hard and he did two nights in a row, and Im not even gonna bring up the giveaway because he has more than his fair share of takeaways to make up for it.. just found it kind of weird seeing him get hit a couple games in a row since usually if he is on he dances around those hits and makes them look foolish for trying. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Howard shouldn't have started, plain and simple. You don't start a goalie for a back to back after coming off an injury. It was a bad coaching move. The boys are going to hate practice tomorrow.
Death Warrant 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) 2 games in two weeks and then 3 in 4 nights....thanks NHL. The Canucks went through the same thing. 1 game in 9 days (2 in 11). They just did their three in four nights (vs NJD, @ EDM, @ COL) and tonight was their fourth game in six nights. Very similar situations for both teams. Don't know what the NHL is thinking sometimes. Guest Heaten Report post Posted November 7, 2010 Ericsson looked good. I can't blame him for that goal, it was a fluke. Nothing anybody could do about it. He rebounded with the goal. Man he has a wicked hard shot.

I'm glad I didn't see this game. Looked like the Wings left Howard out to dry on multiple occassions and couldn't bury their chances.
