under_par_00 45 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 Hmm... What are they supposed to do with him now? Is he just content because he got his big contract or what? I had high hopes for Hudler, but sadly, this may be the case. He showed his true colours leaving for the big money in Russia. He didn't want to help the Wings that year, he wanted the fat paycheck. Well he got it, and guess what, he has another fat paycheck for 2 years from the Wings waiting. He has his Cup, now he is collecting the cash. I don't see the same motivation or work ethic from him as we have seen before. He is small and weak, always seems scared of getting hit, and looks quite slow out there. Only he can turn his game around if he truely wants to, but sadly, I don't see that happening. $2.75 mil to sit in the press box, Hudler would probably take that to the bank. titanium2 867 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) I really don't know if he would be a good fit here in Detroit but man oh man that Captain Hindsight is telling me Alex Tanguay's production and contract this year would sure look nice on the third line. T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I keep watching for him, but most of the time I don't notice him. You don't notice Who?dler? If this is the Juri Hudler Watch Thread, first we're going to have to find him before we can start to watch him. My friend is a retired Bloomfield Hills detective; I'll call him. 2 Hockeymom1960 and F.Michael reacted to this

dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I wonder if the Islanders would want him in exchange for future considerations. The quicker we get rid of him the more money we save come trade deadline. Oliers have no use for Dustin Penner and maybe we can work his cap hit work come trade deadline. Not even a shot on goal in 12:45 ice time last night. Just mind-boggling to think Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller are sitting out for this useless guy. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

I didn't notice him at all but on one PP where he skated and I read his number real quick. EDIT: Found it 2:43 TOI in the 3rd. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 We should trade him for a depth defenseman that can play physical in front of the net. Hopefully, his overpaid salary won't hinder that.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 He's running out of chances. It's beyond me how he's managing to do everything wrong. This situation is resembling the Leino situation from last year more and more every day. We should trade him for a depth defenseman that can play physical in front of the net. Hopefully, his overpaid salary won't hinder that. The more games he plays without doing a single thing, the less his trade value is. As much as i'd love to get a mean defenseman, we don't have any room at all on this roster

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I haven't seen as much of his play this season as most of you would have, but I feel you're all being too harsh. Yes he's struggling, and I've sometimes yelled at the TV after seeing him do something stupid, but I feel like we need to give him time to re-adjust. Trading him would be absolutely disasterous because I'm certain that if a team was willing to trade for him, they'd give him consistent top 6 minutes and regular PP time. He sometimes gets that here, but if he doesn't instantly produce, coach gets frustrated and demotes him again, thus deflating his already low confidence. Hudler is a very gifted player, he put up nearly 60 points last time he was here, obviously his slow start means that's unlikely to happen this season, but I am positive that things will turn around for him and by seasons end we'll be happy to have the little guy on the team again. He should look at that St.Louis fella in Tampa, same size as him, although he puts up good numbers... hudler's weakness is his very poor and slow skating
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 You are all forgetting one key component to Hudler's game...this season isn't a contract year. He will struggle all season. Then next year he'll put up big numbers just in time for us to re-sign him to an even bigger deal. Then he can say it took him an entire year to readjust to the NHL game. Mark my words....and I'm actually a Hudler fan who's rooting for him

The positive aspect is that all the other boys on the team are working even harder pulling their own weight and his so that we are still winning while he get's intouch with his emotions, his self esteem, and confidence. :puke: If you think LGW is harsh on Hudler now, just imagine how bad it would be if we had been losing. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

Guest Hatethedrake! Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I'd like to see Hudler moved because I don't think the Wings need his potential scoring or playmaking. I think the Wings depth is fine. I'd like to see another element added which can balance the scoring. Whether it's getting more ice time for Eaves and Miller or maybe it's trading Hudler for some grit. Hudler has always seemed like a square peg in a round hole in Detroit. I do agree with the poster who said that Huds would likely get more points on another team where he would get more ice time. If I were Holland (thank God I'm not) I'd move Hudler for a draft pick and save the cap space for the trade deadline. But Kenny doesn't usually do trades this early. I know he moved Leino last year but Kenny usually waits until trade deadline day and even then he usually only moves mid to low round draft picks. I guess I just like the Wings current blend of size and skill and would like to see more of it. Holmstrom, Franzen and Bertuzzi are big bodies who add a dimension to the team. Cleary and Abdelakder are playing very well. Dats and Z are still our go-to guys. Helm gives us sheer speed. Miller and Eaves work their asses off and are excellent Pkers. Modano is looking better with each game and can still set his wingers up with good passes. He can still skate and shoot as well. Filppula is an excellent all around player and is relishing his role as the 2nd line centre. I don't come up with anything for Hudler.
