Banging on the glass at the Joe illegal?

Okay, give me a break because I'm currently living in Germany... but I just received word from a friend that it is now illegal to bang on the glass at the Joe. Please, please tell me this is a joke. I can't find anything about it online and you guys out of all people would know. Keep me updated... thanks!

It's not illegal in the sense that you will be arrested for doing so, but a new policy has been implemented that prohibits banging on the glass. I really don't think it is that big of a deal though.

Ahhh, I don't know. I just can't imagine not banging on the glass. I've done that as a child. I mean, it's wasn't every game but when there was celebration for an epic goal or the time D-Mac came back... I never found it that annoying. Sorry if I ticked any of you guys off!

Here is a little tid bit if you break the glass you buy the glass, example if kids hockey has a game there and the glass breaks during play not a problem but if your kid hits the glass with his or her stick and it breaks and it is not an accident there parents just bought that broken pile of glass

The glass is designed to absorb impact of players going outward, and not people shoving it inward. So banning the banging could actually cut down on wear & tear of the system.

This is true. I was at the Colorado game because a friend gave me some nice 4th row from the ice tickets. A couple of (very annoying) Colorado fans were pounding on the glass and an usher came over and told them they have to stop.

Agreed. I say boycott the ban by not buying seats right on the glass. Have a ton of home games, where no on the glass seats are filled. That will change their minds about the rule pretty quick. When people go overboard with it, its annoying, but nothing that big....

But really, maybe since I'm pretty damn weak compared to a NHL hockey player but me banging on the glass from the other side won't so anything. Nothing will break. I can't barely make a noise for a matter of fact.

Good... it's annoying as all get out. As pointed out, it serves zero purpose as the players aren't going to look at you. I hate it even more when the morons sitting in front of the glass with the ambient sound TV mics tape to them decides to bang on that glass and I get to hear a loud "bang, bang, bang" coming out of my TV set.

I also agree that the people standing up and waving at The Joe should have a potato cannon fired at their heads! Memo to these people: You look stupid. If you're that desperate to get on TV, buy a ticket on the glass... and don't bang on it!
