He will now work full-time at NBC/Versus.

Canadian hockey fans rejoice.

Will definitely enjoy the World Juniors more without Pierre talking over every big moment.

In the immortal words of Marv Albert....YYYYYYEEEEESSSS!

Great news. Now we won't hear ridiculous statements about how much of a monster Dion Phaneuf is or how great a husband and father Tim Thomas is. What a weird dude he is. Anyone ever notice how he stands awkwardly close to the players that he interviews?

He reminds me of Judge Reinhold playing the CLOSE TALKER on Seinfeld. Pierre is indeed one creepy guy.

That he is. The best was the orgasm he has when Tokarski made that save at the WJrs on New Year's Eve in 08. Good Lord. What a fiend.

That was a disgusting moment. But the one which sticks out for me is when Crosby scored his 1st shootout game winning goal against the Habs. He literally orgasmed for 5 minutes. He's had many other creepy moments but this is the one I wish I could erase from my memory. He knows the game inside and out but the creepyness overshadows it.

Damn Canadians... first they get another team. Now they're pawning off their crappy announcers on us. <_<

Here's hoping Osgood can take his job.

Canadian hockey fans rejoice.

Speak for your self :( (Just kidding I know most Canadians share your view of him, but I'm legitimately saddened by this). Hopefully TSN lazes out a bit this year and just decides to pick up Versus' feed more often than not.

Best of luck to you Pierre! You're among the best at what you do and don't let anyone ever convince you otherwise

I bet TSN feels like its been hit by :scared:THE DOUBLE DION! :scared:

Oh well, now I wont have to watch his creepy ass on TSN. He does have a lot of hockey knowledge but that is heavily outweighed by his extreme awkward creepy personality.

I detest McGuire. So far as I can see, very few people enjoy his presence on television. I don't know why he's still used on NBC/Versus broadcasts.

This deserves re-linking for this thread... It's from this past playoffs, but I'm expecting a 5th edition.

The 4th Annual “Pierre McGuire is a ****** Canoe” Contest

THE PRIZE: Two tickets to a regular season Leafs game of your choice in Toronto at the Air Canada Center during the 2011-2012 season. (regular season game against the Red Wings excluded/playoff games not applicable in Toronto)

OFFICIAL RULES: Make a sign which says, “Pierre McGuire is a ****** Canoe”. Go to an NHL playoff game. Get your “Pierre McGuire is a ****** Canoe” sign behind Pierre Mcguire’s head on TV at some point during the broadcast. Collect your prize and praise, bask in your victory.

Having encyclopedic knowledge of players' birthplaces and junior teams does not make one a good commentator. How I envy you Canadians and your incredible "TSN."

Pierre was actually much better when he did work with TSN. When he worked with Gord Miller, especially, Miller would shut him up and continue calling the game.

However, at NBC he gets to talk all the time, especially during play, which has long been the modus operandi for NBC/VS/OLN, ABC/ESPN, and FOX. I know for some in the U.S. it may not be a big deal especially in light of this being a common trend in other leagues (I consider it a Madden-esque quality of broadcasting where Madden would talk over Summerall during play despite Summerall being the play by play), but my god is this ever one of my biggest pet peeves surrounding watching the NHL. The U.S. broadcasters get way too excited about knowing things and PTI-style need to sit there and yap all game long about random s***.
