He was one of the best pound for pound fighters in recent memory.
The Canucks recently had to deal with Luc Bourdon's death as well. Edit: Forgot he was no longer with the Canucks.

He had a new opportunity coming up with the Jets, tragic he can't see it through.
27 is too young.

His leave earlier this season was not substance abuse related. There have been reports of mental illness.again with tough guys, sad. just completely sad. I would guess drugs or alcohol were involved.
RIP. Rypien was great to watch on the ice.

Rypien was actually one of my favorite fighters in the league, it's so sad to see him pass away at such a young age. My condolences to his friends and family. Here's to another enforcer for the pearly gates along with Probie and Boogard.
