Yeah i'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they did officially make him a 2 year offer.

Apparently he wants a longer deal, so that more than likely explains the delay in his signing.

I say go for it, it's not gonna hurt to give him a shot.

I was trying to bait cprice in a more subtle way. His original post reeked of passive and unjustified condescension: The Blues could maybe use him as a depth guy, but he'd be a good signing for Detroit. Almost like he'd been waiting 20 years to say this.

Hmmm...let's see...

My comments stem from the fact that:
1) Detroit has lost Stuart and Lidstrom.
2) The Blues (who were already superior to Detroit defensively last year), have only lost Carlo (a depth guy) if he signs elsewhere.
3) The Wings have yet to sign anyone to replace Lidstrom and Stuart...so they seem to be in greater need of defensive help than the Blues are.
4) Carlo may be the best of the remaining FA defensemen...hence, it would stand to reason that he would be a good signing for Detroit at this time...in other words, their best option outside of a trade.

One could easily deduce that Detroit needs Carlo much more than St. Louis does.

It's not unjustified condescension. It's just true. Is it not?

Geez, God forbid Detroit actually be in that situation.

It's now being reported on NHL.com that Colaiacovo is gonna sign with the Wings. It was originally posted and locked because of the source but now it's starting to pop up on other sites.
