Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) If i am correct, i do believe that if the Wings win in Hab land tonight and the Caps, Leafs and Devils all lose in regulation have booked a place in the post season.? Only one im iffy on is the Devils, is it head to head on tied points first or is it ROW? Maybe NJ can still match us on points but not sure with the factors that solve tied issue's. SDavis35 140 Report post Posted April 5, 2014 ROW is first tiebreaker, and if NJ were to catch up to us they would most likely have more than we do. At the very least we can eliminate most of the teams we're racing with.

wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted April 5, 2014 93 and we are guaranteed to be in. Lets get that at the very least, and hopefully lets get more so that we can keep 7th seed and play the Pens. If we play the Pens, I like our chances against them and if we advance, we play the winner of Rangers and Philly, which I also like our chances against. So lets hope the Wings keep on rolling right into the playoffs.

trule23 119 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 As of right now we have 88 points with 4 games remaining. Columbus has 85 points with 5 games remaining. And the devils has 84 points with 4 games remaining. With Toronto losing tonight they wont catch us and neither will Washington because they have a tough schedule upcoming. Even if Washington won every game left we would only need 3 points in our last 4 to tie them. But they wont win all of them. That leaves NJ and the jackets. This is just me guessing but I say we get 4 more points, jackets get 6 more, and the devils get 5 more point. That would still give us the first wild card. I think for sure we will make the playoffs

GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 We damn well better, or we can look back at all those shootout losses and that last minute collapse against New Jersey about a month back. At this point, we're the favorites to get in, but anything can happen. Also, schedule doesn't matter. In every sport, we see teams with nothing to play for beating teams with everything to play for late in the year.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 92 would be pretty safe as it means the Devils would have to win out. However, that isn't too improbable given their remaining schedule. The Red Wings absolutely have to beat the Sabres and Hurricanes at minimum. Stealing a point at Pittsburgh would really help the cause too. I think the Red Wings will ultimately get in, as they still control their own destiny, but Tuesday's game is massive.
Ally 448 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 The beginning of the season every year, when we lose a game everyone says "relax, it's just the beginning of the season" and every year around this time we are reminded that every point counts. 2 dirtydangles and joshy207 reacted to this
wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) I think we will get in no problem. We lost pretty much the exact way we lost to Montreal a little over a week ago. What did we do after that loss where everyone was beside themselves? We won 4 games in a row. Now, the biggest problem I see is, now that Pav is back, the lines look all out of synch, like no one really knows what eachother are doing. With 4 games left, Babs needs to establish exactly what the lines are going to be. In the 3rd tonight, he demoted Nyquist to the 3rd line and chose to play Franzen and Abby with Pav, which I think is a HUGE mistake. Nyquist is the hottest player on the team and has been scoring goals like mad, you don't give him less playing time. Franzen meanwhile has done absolutely nothing for this team lately, so I want to see him demoted. Go with these lines: Nyquist- Datsyuk- Abby (We need a guy who isn't afraid to go to dirty areas, something Franzen does not do) Jurco- Sheahan- Tatar (Play them more, no reason to limit their minutes) Franzen- Legwand- Alfredsson Glendening- Helm- Miller Also, we NEED to limit the time on ice for Kindl and Lashoff... they are killing us. Kronner can play near 26-27 min along with Danny D, Smitty so that it limits Kindl's ice time. That needs to be done. trule23 119 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 Wish some of the vets would step up as well, franzen has been nowhere to be found. as long as Howie is strong in net for the last few, Nyquist keeps being Nyquist, and the kid line just keeps doing what they've done all season we should be fine. But I agree Nyquist being put on the third line was a dumb move

Zetterberg and Weiss (who?) don't appear to be returning. Bertuzzi and Cleary aren't likely to see the lineup.
trule23 119 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) I really think we should go after Ehrhoff in the offseason and dump Quincey. Hopefully some of the D in grand rapids will replace Kindl and Lashoff soon. Marchenko and Oullett are really good but I don't think they are ready just yet. I really hope Weiss's play at the start of the season was him being injured and acquainting with a new team. Maybe he will actually do something when he comes back Edited April 6, 2014 by trule23
Jericho613 74 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 Wings will be fine and totally make the playoffs. Montreal got lucky tonight, they get lucky during the regular season, but they will suck in the playoffs mark my words. Pens will have to be a statement game cuz I see the Red Wings playing them in first round and beating them. I really don't see the Wings going farther than the second round, but hey anything can happen. Go Wings 4 Life 1 trule23 reacted to this

wings4thecup06 504 Report post Posted April 6, 2014 Let's not forget how well this team has done. Two out of three this week, 4 wins in a row. All we need is 4 points IMO, but those 4 are huge. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here as it's literally one day at a time. Starts tuesday vs Buffalo, then we'll re-evaluate and see. We damn well better make it in though. Jericho613 74 Report post Posted April 7, 2014 We take it one game at a time, We will be fine. The Blue Jackets are gonna be the only thorn in our side in my opinion, and really that's not such a bad thing. The Wings And Jackets deserve the Wild Cards more than the Devils and Caps. atodaso 279 Report post Posted April 7, 2014 The Leafs can get a maximum of 90 points but will probably manage to screw up at least once in the last three games. The Caps can get a maximum of 91 points. They play St. Louis, Carolina, Chicago, and Tampa. They will lose at least one of those games. The Devils can get a maximum of 92 points. They play Calgary, Ottawa, NYI, and Boston. I think they will finish with 90pts or less. Realistically all we need is one more win or maybe 3 points and we're in. To me the only scary team are the Devils because of their history and also relatively easier schedule. Then again, we're in better position than CBJ so maybe the Devils and Wings get in and CBJ once again is the unlucky loser...
