FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 15 years is a bit too long for a single coach. Curious to see what a fresh face behind the bench could do for them. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/the-last-days-of-barry-trotz-in-nashville-171245682.html
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 One of the best in the game IMO. If I'm the Leafs, Canucks, or Oilers, I'm looking hard at this guy. 2 Hockeymom1960 and FireCaptain reacted to this
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) Like everyone else, I'd like to see what he could do with a more talented lineup. Of course, he might be one of those guys whose thing is squeezing the most out of not-a-lot, and it might be a disaster. It'll be interesting. Sounds like Weber's not happy. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 My guess: Trotz is the next Maple Leafs coach. Unlike Randy "I won a cup because I had Pronger and Niedermayer on different defense pairs" Carlyle, Trotz can teach real structure and discipline. 1 hockey&beer reacted to this
PredsFanTheBayouState 263 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 having mixed feelings about this,i like trotz and he is a good coach that works hard with what he has got,but as shea weber said yesterday after losing to the Stars:It sucks. I hate it. Everyone in here hates it, and it's not a good feeling. Something's got to change. We have to get better, and we have to find a way to get into the postseason." Trotz seems like a good coach and in the past he's done a lot with very little. I don't think he's the source of the Predators problems but after 15 years it probably is time to mix things up. If he's let go in Nashville I have a feeling he'll have a new job in the NHL very soon. And it'll be interesting to see who they get that's an upgrade. Hack & Whack Rule! 160 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 It would be interesting to see him in Toronto or Edmonton. I think those are the teams that need to look at Trotz. It's rough to see this guy lose his job...I like him, but I can barely tolerate the Sexual Predators. Hope he lands on his feet. 1 FireCaptain reacted to this
ogreslayer 1,069 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 If they have any sense at all, the Aquilini's fire Torts & swap him for Trotz as soon as he hits the open market.
Uncle Danny 155 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 He'll have no issue finding another job. That guy has done incredibly well despite having scant resources to work with. I'm not sure he'd do as well in Toronto, where the pressure valve is turned up to 11. I'd love to see what he could do with all the talent in Edmonton, though. Talk about a change of venue! I hate to say it, but if we ever lost Babcock, I'd hope Kenny would give a long hard look at Trotz for our squad. He's a coach. 3 FireCaptain, Hockeymom1960 and jimmyemeryhunter reacted to this
Guest Playmaker Report post Posted April 9, 2014 I think they need to keep Trotz and get rid of Weber. I'd reluctantly take him as a service to the Preds in order to help them get back into the playoffs. 3 Nev, FireCaptain and Red Winged reacted to this

Internet.Unknown 422 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 15 years is a bit too long for a single coach. If this is true, how long until a majority of people are calling for Babcock's firing? Yikes.
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 Trotz takes a year off, Babcock decides to step down after next season, Trotz takes over. Him and Tippet are the only 2 active head coaches I'd consider over Babcock. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
PredsFanTheBayouState 263 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 It's gonna be a sad day, when coach trotz is fired,he is after all the he only coach the Predators have ever known in their 15-year history, became the longest-tenured head coach in the NHL. i cried when david legwand was traded,so i know that i will cry when coach trotz is let go
LeftWinger 5,132 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) I'd consider Hitchcock...if Babs ever stepped down. If Weber wants to get in to the playoffs every year, he needs to demand a trade to Detroit. I will give them 5 first round picks, Almqvist, Franzen and included to Poile his own LC franchise. PredsFanTheBayouState 263 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 There is a rumor going around that is he is going to step down and call it quits completely after 15 years as an NHL coach. His family loves nashville too much,so it maybe to the best decision i have no link to this rumor right now

LeftWinger 5,132 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 Pretty much, the owner said, "Barry, it was fun, it was great, but its time to step down. Step down after the season. Did you hear me correctly, I think it would be wise to step down after the season." paraphrasing of course.

He doesn't suck, but it would have been nice to have him coached the preds to a stanley cup, that has always been the dream of the preds fans to say that our only coach in the teams history coached them to a stanley cup
