Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 Callahan signed for 1 year at $555,000. Nestrasil signed for 1 year at S550,000. Facebook Capgeek. Hard to go wrong with these guys at league minimum. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this

Guest DeGraa55 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 I still think Callahan would be a decent fourth liner...we just have too many as it is.

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 Well, Kenny sure has had a great off season for the Griffins. I think both Callahan and Nestrasil have to clear waivers now to play in Grand Rapids. I've been interested in seeing both of these guys on the Wings, especially Callahan. With the amount of forwards we have signed, I don't know if either one will be Red Wing property a few months from now...
Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 I'm probably wrong on this one, but I thought that players could be placed in the AHL prior to the season without being exposed to waivers. My understanding is that the waiver period starts twelve days before the season begins. Can't Callahan and Nestrasil start down in GR, then have to deal with waivers if/when they're called up, or are they exposed regardless? The NHL video games have my perception of this one a little skewed. Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 I want Callahan up in Detroit this year. He's coming off a solid year. Time for him to get his fair shot. 3 martinezsvsu, Hockeymom1960 and Z Winged Dangler reacted to this
WorkingOvertime 536 Report post Posted July 17, 2014 I want Callahan up in Detroit this year. He's coming off a solid year. Time for him to get his fair shot. I agree- he has earned a chance with the Wings as the 12-13th forward.

vladdy16 2,154 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 harold has already made this request, so this will be the last one: An update: I know people are unhappy about the signing, but enough with the Cleary jokes in every single thread on the forum. For starters, they're usually not that funny as it gets old very fast. Second, it makes it difficult to carry on a conversation about the actual topic. Thank you. cnot19 191 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 I'm surprised he was signed as he seems to be too truculent for this organization I really hopes he makes the team over the useless miller clearly Anderson etc
LeftWinger 5,130 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 Nestrasil does NOT have to clear. The only guys that are out of exemptions are Callahan, Ferraro, Almqvist. Of course Almqvist went to Europe, so that helps out, but the other two just may be lost to waivers, especially Callahan at league minimum...we'll see what Ferraro re-ups for. LeftWinger 5,130 Report post Posted July 18, 2014 well, I guess I could be wrong...jeez! If he is another guy boxed out by useless UFA signings, why even have a 7 round draft?

number9 3,297 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 Callahan will be the first jersey I've bought in awhile if he makes it. He's the good ol red blooded American hockey name I've been waiting for the wings to get!
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 Callahan>Cleary. We'll lose him to waivers. Based on what? One Clarkson like season in the AHL? On second thought, Burke might claim him and sign him to an 8 year $40 mil extension.

Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 Based on what? One Clarkson like season in the AHL? On second thought, Burke might claim him and sign him to an 8 year $40 mil extension. A budget team with a weak bottom six and problems on the D side of the puck might be interested in him. A team like the Sens, maybe.
DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 You guys are seriously over rating him. He's projected as a 4th line agitator, not a second line scorer. 2 number9 and wings4thecup06 reacted to this
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted July 19, 2014 You guys are seriously over rating him. He's projected as a 4th line agitator, not a second line scorer. I said he was better than Cleary, who is projected as being nowhere in the NHL without his man-crushees. A 4th line agitator/mini-Holmstrom>absolutely nothing. Callahan brings skills that this team has lacked for a while. 1 Hockeymom1960 reacted to this
