number9 3,297 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 number9's crystal ball says Mantha sucks and won't be a top 6 forward in the NHL. I would absolutely take that bet. How can he be "crapping the bed" after one (not even full) season? He's likely not going to be the next Rick Nash. What a total bust... How the hell do you read that and get that we're not taking a defenseman in the first round? There are more quality defenseman at around 19 than any other position, but because we're going to take the best player available, it won't be a defenseman... Okay... Ah flawless logic. I concede. You have won this day. So we take a D in the first round. A goalie at some point, and it's a shake from there? Or mostly D?
Helmethead 235 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 We take a kid who can play centre, wing, defense and goalie. 4 players in one. Go with a 20 man roster, save some cap space and win the Cup. 1 wingsfan4795 reacted to this

PumpkinEscobar 136 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Cause KHL contracts are always honored Krsmith's crystal ball says Mantha is still great and will bounce back. Everyone place your bets now. He sucks. He even made statements about a trade suggesting he would be fine playing for a different team because that means they wanted him more. I can only defend one Franzen at a time and Mantha is the odd one out. My Rick Nash comparison was a loose powerforward association, don't take it too literally. But yeah he was supposed to be our next 1st line powerforward. Overhyped or not he's already crapping the bed in that department. Case n point. I don't realistically see us taking Samsonov. We're probably gonna take Eriksson-Ek, a center, not a D (Ohhhhhhhh noooooo), but we'll probably still take a goalie somewhere. So basically we won't be taking a Dman in the first round. Just telling you what I heard

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Mantha's going to be a good NHL player. Holland won't make any major trades tomorrow, or this summer. Holland won't sign any UFAs. The Wings will trade down a few spots in the draft, and take Oliver Kylington in the 1st round. That's all I know. Anything more would only be pure speculation

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Are there any steals in the goalie department? We'll need someone in the pipeline and I don't think any of our prospects in that department are expected to do much. It'd be cool to see Paterson eventually make it though, since Saginaw was my local team.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Fact of the day: If the Wings take Eriksson Ek tonight with their 19th overall pick, he will be the first Sweedish forward the Wings have ever drafted in the 1st round.

kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 So in the final analysis, Boston traded Phil Kessel for two first round picks, drafted Seguin and Hamilton with said picks, and then traded each of them? It's not often that a blockbuster trade takes place and one team ends up with NONE of the primary pieces of the trade. That takes some effort. 2 amato and TheXym reacted to this

I can't buy that. If we offer them bonafide roster players and our #1, that is loads better than unproven draft picks.

They're trading him because they can't afford to re-sign him. How would sending Nyquist, who they also couldn't afford to re-sign, be enticing to them? He was always going for futures. And if that's all you're going to get in return, why trade within the division?
