Maybe work on shootouts a bit more in practice next season.

Well I do agree but a lot of the teams battling with us for the 6, 7 and 8 spots have almost as many ot/shootout losses as we do. Our overall play the whole month of March, whether it was the defense, goaltending or 5 on 5 goal scoring have been dreadful. When ya slump, you're not really great in those aspects or at least not all 3 of those. Our pk was awful without Helm when he wasn't playing too.

Why should Howard feel any differently than his coach does on the matter. Babs doesn't care about, or emphasize, getting shootout wins. So why should the team?

Been trying to figure out why Holland is for moving to 3 on 3 after 4 on 4 OT. They have a hard enough time scoring 5 on 5. Can't win a shootout... s***... Let's play one on one.

Because in general the team is pretty strong in the 4v4 OT time. They've won more than they lost and create more chances than the other team.

Everyone's quick to throw the goalies under the bus in shootouts. They've been terrible no doubt, but outside of Gus and his backhand 5 hole move that somehow always works, the shooters were equally as bad. They would have had trouble hitting an empty net.

Cant get mad at the goalie. If the message from the top is that shootouts aren't important, you cant fault the players for listening to their coach.

What was the original quote from Babcock again? Did he really call them meaningless? Because Babcock has also referred to working on them.

I remember Howard ripping on them in a post game after losing yet another shootout, which is pretty understandable. But that's a long way from meaning they don't work on it.

If the Red Wings aren't working on the shootout because Babcock doesn't like them, he deserves to be fired. As does Holland for continuing to employ a coach who refuses to work on something the team sucks at, even though it could cost them making the playoffs and the revenue that goes with it.
