Saad traded to Columbus

Agreed. He is still somewhat young (27). I guess they're hoping he grows into it and then some & ends up being a bargain by the end..? Doesn't make too much sense for a cap strapped team though.

All they need to do now is trade Bickell and Sharp = + ~ 10 mill capspace

True. And that's fully expected. I guess maybe anisimov does things well other than get points.. I'm assuming he does anyway based on that contract. I've never really noticed much of him but I also haven't watched too many cbj games.. anyway, if anyone can bring out the most in him, it's probably Kane, hossa, & company.

If eichel scores 70+points in any of his entry level years, he will most likely get Toews money, more if the cap raises significantly in those years.

It's weird because UFAs were given relatively reasonable contracts whereas RFAs are getting ridiculous money. Nyquist better not have taken note.

If he does we can always offer sheet tarasenko, I guess.

And trade him nyquist for a big fast 2/3c, plus an a prospect and a pick.

Which isn't horrible...

We basically get back what we give up for then offer sheet we give tank.

Cuz its not like wed get all that for the picks wed give up anyway.

I know Wings fans wanted us to put an offer sheet in on Saad, but if Holland would have paid him $6 a season for 6 years, I would have been furious.

What's not to like a young big upcoming star getting paid well. Would have been over the moon if Holland offered him that hell I would have been happy with 7 too.

So you're saying that we should pay nyquist $7million? Since he's a young upcoming star with better numbers than saad

Saad is a 22 year old left-wing with 203 lbs who just won a Stanley Cup i.e. COULD be an emerging star. Nyquist while a very good player is turning 26 soon, a bit undersized and hasn't won a Stanley Cup. So would I pay him 7 mill yet? no but for sure something in the 6 mill range, to buy out some UFA years.

So we should pay any 50 point guy that's 200 pounds and won a Stanley cup $7million? This is exactly why these contracts are getting out of hand because of people like you. Yes 22, so an rfa and he should accept a prove it bridge deal first. But nope these young guys want their huge payday now.

Because of people like me? Sadly I don't own an NHL team I'm just a wings fan but I will always side with the players. Why should he do that? As shown with the Saad and Hamilton contracts they are worth much more so signing a "prove it"contract that's way beyond market value doesn't make sense.

People really have to realize now how pissed of the players were with the last lockout the time of taking under market contracts and being forced into bridge deals is over.

Fans are crazy if they think Nyquist will sign for anything less than a long term north of 5 contract. Which like it or not is his market value.

Actually this is his second cup.

Bridge contracts are still a real thing.

And I do agree with what you're saying about his market value, but the point of signing bridge deals is to take them out of their restricted years, which sets them up to maximize their earning potential because they can either go to UFA where players like him get over paid, or he can use that as a bargaining chip and hell get closer to his market value from the wings.

I still think he'll sign for under five for a couple years.

Frank, do you not see the huge problem in this way of thinking? You should never always side with anyone, player or team. You should look at the situation objectively, hear the argument from both sides and then pick the side that you agree with.

What if Nyquist wanted 8 million a year for 8 years? Do you automatically side with him because he is a player?

If he were a center, he could get that from someone, or at least 7.5

I guess anything can happen after that contract Ryan O'Reilly got. The money is irrelevant to my point though. What if Nyquist wanted 10 million/year? My point is that always taking the side of a player regardless of the facts is ridicoulas.
