nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Guessing Toronto informed us were not gonna get the leafs 3rd rounder this year? If that's the case we can always offer up our 2017 3rd rounder to a team who have multiple 3rds this year Gotta get some d prospects in our prospect pool ASAP
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 As I said before, I'd like to take Lucas Johansen with our 2nd round pick and take Kenny Johnson in the 4th or 5th round as a sleeper pick... Not surprised that Bean is rising, but very surprised that Chychrun is falling. I say we go hard after him. Trade Pulkkinen or Ouellet to move up a few spots if he's still available at 10-12... 1 amato reacted to this

Not surprised that Bean is rising, but very surprised that Chychrun is falling. I say we go hard after him. Trade Pulkkinen or Ouellet to move up a few spots if he's still available at 10-12... I'd like Lucas johansen as well ... I'd love to get the jets 22 and 36 picks if possible , my thinking is the more picks we have the more of a chance we have to find some good players Was looking around as well and if it were possible and we had cap space after trading Howard and hopefully Ericsson I'd try and pick up Bryan bickell(obviously to send him down ) for the Hawks 83rd pick since they'll be in cap hell and even try and send them the 106th pick for the 92nd I believe but they'd then have no picks till 106(like we should feel sorry for them lol ) Id really love for us to draft this 17 yr old finnish kid Otto koivula, I know he's not a dman but he's already 6'4 210-220 and put up 50 plus pts so he has skill and I been checking YouTube videos and every time he scores a goal he goes nuts and charges his teammates and runs off to the bench to tackle them ... Granted a few goals i saw were off his body cause he's so damn huge lol Last time I saw that was Petr mrazek and I loved mrazek when I saw that ... Just a good feeling about him Here's one of his goal celebrations http://youtu.be/OvQKOEKb21A Edited May 2, 2016 by nyqvististhefuture
Richdg 267 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Not 2016 related, but 2018. The younger Svechniokov signed to play junior hockey for the Muskegon Lumberjacks. So for those in west michigan head on over and check him out.
Richdg 267 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 IMHO the draft will be tied to what if anything we do in the trade market. Our 3 best trade pieces are: Nyquist, tatar, and Smith. If we move some/all of those guys for under 30 Dmen, then the need becomes forward. If we fail to make any trades then D remains the highest need. Just for a lineup sake lets say we move all three of those guys and add one of Faulk, Fowler, Trouba, or Shattenkirk. What does the BL look like? Dekeyser-Fowler/Faulk/Shattenkirk,Trouba Kronwall-Marchenko Ericsson-Green Oullett-Sproul That is better. If we buy out Ericsson (I doubt this happens) then move Oullett up into his spot on the 3rd pair. Or maybe we keep Smith for the 3rd pair and move one of the 3 young Dmen instead. Then you have this: Dekeyser-trade pickup Kronwall-Marchenko Smith-Green 2 of Oullett/Marchenko/Sproul Again better, more athletic, and cheaper. This can/will have some impact on the draft. Anyone we draft isn't goign to make the club for 2-4 years. We draft, they play their final junior season, then 1-3 years in GR.
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) Anyone know if the hockey news draft preview mag is out? Or any other draft preview mags available online to view/get? Edited May 4, 2016 by nyqvististhefuture
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 My top two choices are still Jakob Chychrun or Jake Bean, but unfortunately, unless Holland is willing to trade up (I'm not sure he is), I doubt either of them will be available when we pick. My next two choices would be Michael McLeod or Max Jones, and it's even questionable whether either of them will still be available at 16. So I'm hoping one of the four falls to us, or we trade up to get one of them. If not, I'd like to trade back and gain an extra pick in the second round. A few guys I like that are projected to go late in the first or somewhere in the second are Nathan Bastian, Lucas Johansen, and to a lesser extent Luke Green and Sean Day... Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 I'd take a chance on Sean Day. His stock has dropped a lot since he was declared "exceptional" by the OHL at 15 but I think he's worth the risk. 2 krsmith17 and Detroit \# 1 Fan reacted to this

Jacksoni 418 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Better hire a phychologist if we were to have Radulov coming in and draft this guy. Not saying we shouldn't do it. We are drafting late, have to be looking for angles.

nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Damn f***ed up story , reminds me of last season after I read hudson faschings story it made me want to draft the kid cause of what he went through and he's turning out to be good prospect (f***) Maybe this Sean day kid will be good
amato 3,210 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Sean Day sounds like someone I'd be really happy for us to draft. I was thinking that even before the story (thanks for that btw). After reading that story.. It'd be really cool if we could get him and Max Jones together. They sound like they'd help each other continue to develop too. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
HoweFan 74 Report post Posted May 13, 2016 After reading the Hockey News draft review I'm not feeling too much love for Bean. Or Gauthier. I'm also surprised that Logan Brown was called the weakest player in the draft physically, when he is 6'6". I like Logan Stanley now. At least he would fill a couple of needs regarding size and toughness.
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted May 13, 2016 Yeah, who wants an offensive minded puck moving defenseman, when you can have a big, slow defensive defenseman... I wouldn't waste a 2nd round pick on Stanley, maybe if we had a 3rd I'd consider him... The more I read up on Sean Day, the more I'm thinking I'd like to see us take a chance on him with our 2nd round pick...
HoweFan 74 Report post Posted May 14, 2016 It says Stanley skates well for his size. It has to get better but it is progressing. He is definitely a defensive defenseman. It says bean is an impact offensive defenseman. He is rated three spots higher than Stanley. It says don't get mad at him if he gets outmuscled down low or doesn't play defense. That sounds like someone who people will be screaming at in a few years on this board. I'm with you on picking Day in the second round. Or Givani Smith If I had my pick of defensemen I like what they said about Sergachev rated #

krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted May 15, 2016 Zero chance a (just turned) 18 year old kid makes the roster right off the draft table, especially a defenseman... the same goes for any player we draft this year. I think every defenseman is at least two years away, maybe with the exception of one (Chychrun) being ready the following season. Larkin was a rare case for a Red Wings draft pick, and even he took a full season after being drafted to develop his game further in college. The chances of us getting another huge steal in the mid round like that again this year are very slim. Look at Mantha, he was drafted three years ago and may finally be ready this season. Svechnikov was drafted last year and definitely won't be ready until next season at the earliest, and they're forwards. Defensemen take much longer to develop and become NHL ready. Unless we're getting a top 5 pick, I don't see it happening...
Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) Bean is an interesting case, because I have no idea why he isn't considered to be a guy who would go in the top ten draft picks. He's extremely intelligent with, and without the puck. While he isn't exactly a big guy (mind you, he's 17 years old), Bean's skating abilities are highly underrated. He has a great stride, and can keep up with the attack. His ability to carry the puck through all three zones makes him an instant asset for any defense.Jake Bean is highly-touted as a "complete" defenseman. He's shown that he has the ability to provide potent offensive instincts as well as stout defensive abilities. Here is what EliteProspects had to say on the 17-year-old blueliner: A shifty and intelligent defenceman that plays with panache and poise. An excellent skater that is a good puck-carrier up the ice. Makes very good decisions with and without the puck, and plays strong positionally. Works hard and doesn't give the opposition much to work with, but could stand to be a bit more assertive during high pressure situations. That being said, he is not a one dimentional player. He displays natural talent in the offensive end, but also plays a complete defensive game in his own end. He has a proactive stick and boxes the opposition out, limiting lanes. All-in-all, the type of all-around defenceman that you want to have on the ice as much as possible. HoweFan 74 Report post Posted May 19, 2016 Has anyone seen Brett Murray play? One f the mock drafts ad him going at #60. Hockey News had him ranked at #87. He is listed at 6' 5" and 211and plays LW
Richdg 267 Report post Posted May 24, 2016 There has been growing speculation-read rumors, that German Rubtsov the 6-1/190 C from Russia could be the pick. Talent is top 10 but the "Russian Factor" will keep him in the middle of the 1st.
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted May 24, 2016 Where have you read / heard this? I haven't seen a single reputable mock draft with him anywhere above 20-24...
