Crap.   Canucks signed Tom Willander.   I was hoping he would be an option to trade for since he was putting the screws to Vancouver for  better bonus language in his entry deal.

Id sign an upgrade on D this summer - Gavrikov/Provorov and roll with what we have for 1 more season. Sign Connor and Andersson next offseason. By that time Tarasenko, Chiarot, Holl, Gustafsson, all the goalies and the Abdelkader buyout will be off the books and Danielson, MBN, Mazur, Buch?, Lambo? Finnie?, ASP, Wallinder, Buium?, Cossa should be on the team / banging on the door. Resign Kane for 1 more season and replace him with Connor next offseason. Trade/buyout Compher/Copp next offseason and replace with Danielson. Replace Tarasenko with MBN. Replace most of the bottom 6 with Mazur/Buch/Lambo/Finnie/free agents. Trade for/sign a Chiarot replacement. Replace Gus with ASP, Holl with Wallinder. Cossa should be ready to take on the starters role but a reliable backup will be needed via free agency - Stolarz/Brossoit.

I wouldnt be mad if we traded for Pettersson. Buy low on him and hope he can rebound into the 70-100 pt player hes shown he can be. Plus he's from the rape capital of europe. And lord knows the wings love their players from the rape capital of europe. He may fit right in.

Ya, but what would you pay for him? Larkin isn't being traded, neither is MBN, ASP, Danielson or Kasper.

Would they take the #13 OA along with a lower prospect? Maybe a B Tier NHL roster player?

If they'd take, lets say #13, Rasmussen, and 2nd round pick and maybe Wallinder or Tuomisto or maybe add Berggren?

As a Wings fan I'd certainly entertain that offer as long as we can send as little as possible in return (as in quality players, prospects, draft picks).

If he could center our 2nd line and provide 60 some plus pts he might be worth it.

At $11.6m for 7 more years he better be putting up more then 60pts especially how soft he plays. Hed have to be a 90pt line driver that can take some of the weight off Larkin's shoulders. If theres questions he can be that - pass.

Normally I'd expect 90 plus pts as well for that paycheck - however that financial albatross is sumthin I could see Vancouver wanting to part ways with...This is why I'd offer not much in return since one can argue the value of his contract.

To me - regardless of his cap hit - would he make this team better - and would we possibly rid ourselves of some undesirable contracts too by sending them packing to Vancouver?

There's always one dink GM that wrecks it for anyone making a realistic offer for Petey.  (Compher+Ras+2nd)   I would hope SY puts forth the effort to get him without going overboard.   At some point the Nucks will take that offer or similar, unless that one dink GM appears.  

His full NTC comes in effect July 1st as well.   VCR would want to move him before then wouldn't they?

 

Kreider and a 4th to the Ducks for forward prospect Carey Terrance and a 3rd.   Wow.

I would go for that. ASP has basically been the best player in Sweden the last few years. He's racking up accolades and awards quickly. Nabbing him and moving down 11 spots in a very weak draft is a no brainer to me.

I dont think ASP is the next Lidstrom, but he does seem to have Erik Karlsson level potential.

I'm very glad to hear that Tarasenko is rumored to be on the block. Maybe we will have an offseason of Yzerman fixing problems instead of creating them again.

Throw him in at 50% to acquire Isaac Howard's rights.

Berggren, Tarasenko (50%) and give them back their 4th rounder this year.

Id rather pay a bit of a higher price and get them to eat 25% of the contract. $8.7m is a lot more stomachable then that $11.6m imo.

Yzerman should be doing what he can to upgrade this team now. We need to start pushing the chips in while Larkin/DeBrincat are in their prime Seider/Raymond are on discount contracts and Edvinsson/Kasper are on ELCs. Speaking on Edvinsson he should be extended this offseason. $8.5m x 8.

Danielson/13th overall/other prospects/picks for any of Pettersson (retained), Peterka, Robertson, Byram, Miller, etc.
