When will this board wake up and realize his greatness?

Sulak, Saarijarvi, and Kaski didn't make it to the Liiga till they were 22-23. Viro is 18 and playing in crucial roles in the Liiga already.

Drafted only 3 spots lower than Alec Regula. Only 10 spots lower than Albert Johansson. Only 12 spots lower than Tyler Bertuzzi. Only 17 spots lower than Filip Hronek.

He's left-handed and his is play style is perfectly complimentary to Moritz Seider. Excellent passer and puck retriever. Superb edgework and speed, loves to pinch, join the the rush, and will even chip into the O-zone and retrieve his own chip.

At what point did you relize Viro - Seider is our future top pairing? Was it today? You're welcome.

He's a darkhorse great prospect. The top U20 Dman in a mens league... and he's 18. It's like Seider all over again. Except this kid is small and fast. And hes an Aries...

I'm just saying... this is the best U20 Dman in a mens league at 18 years old. That's impressive. He's dominating his age group, and also 19, and 20 year old Dmen. Most Dmen are not even making the Liiga until they are 21 or 22, and he's already there at 18 and leading the way. That's something to write home about.

Yeah, this kid's legit. I think it was Craig Button who was all-in on Viro, and had him ranked as a 1st (or early 2nd) round talent. Pretty much everyone else had him in the 3rd round where we took him. He's definitely been a stud though.

his teammate, RHD, three month older and undrafted, scores at a higher rate, so it´s either another gem in waiting or not as impressive as it looks. I have to admit that I have not seen much of Viro, but dominating looks different to me. Time will tell...

Rafkin passed him over the last 3 games.

Rafkin played (well) for the Spits in his draft year, but committed to going back to Finland before his first year in the OHL was even over. Not sure anyone wanted to commit a draft pick to a player already abandoning NA. Though I could see him being a over ager if he continues to play well for Turku.

for some of these kids it´s too early to leave home, it´s not abandoning NA. Once he´s 20-21 yo it may be a whole different story

IDK that he has the capacity to level people like Kronwall did, but he's definitely an 'attack' style defender. Likes to close gaps and engage. Maybe this will be a good compliment to Seider? Though I'd almost like to see him use his speed to be the puck retriever for Seider. Then Seider can save leg strength and log bigger minutes and play a more calculated game.

Viro and McIsaac remind me a lot of one another, though it's possible Viro has more offensive upside. His shot (as seen in that clip) seems to be a little better than McIsaacs though I expect both to score more at even strength than on the PP

I'm still skeptical

edit: I mean, yes, we have a ton of decent looking prospects. I'm just skeptical about how many of them will be any good

Yeah. This semms about right. I know ol baldy had a big boner for Tuomisto and Yzerman indulged him before shipping his ass off to Edmonton.

The good news is Seider and Johansson look like sure things.

Out of Viro/McIsaac/Wallinder at least 1 should make it and contribute at some point. Then another rando will probably emerge out of the later round guys.

Luckily even if only Seider and Johansson make it, those two along with Hronek is enough to build on via trade or UFA when the time comes. Pretty good spot to be in.

Thank f*ck this list makes Cholowski expendable. Hopefully SY is able to get rid of him at the draft as a throw in to move up a few spots. He is as useful as Bowey was. Offensively gifted(not really comparable), but totally lost in the d-zone( exact same).
